Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's interesting watching the game having already known the result and already seen highlights.

Overall, I was happy but I felt that Melbourne were the Western Bulldogs of last week. Good goal kicking is good football and Melbourne's pressure certainly contributed to Richmond missing so many but there was a period in the third quarter where Richmond had all the run of play and Melbourne really struggled and were kept in it by Richmond's misses.

On the other hand, those scoring shots came after our kick-ins.

Centre clearances were something like 5 to 15 in our favour, so had they kicked a goal the next play was them getting smashed out of the middle again.

Also we missed some set shots early and hit the post, had we kicked them we'd have broken their chalk-like spine much earlier!

Just on THAT kick by Toumpas. Yes, it was one a the few things he did that affected the game but that is the area we have to improve if we want to beat a top 8 (let alone top 4) team - the kick into our forwards.

Usually terrible, a lot better with Watts and Tyson kicking in there, but if Toumpas meets the base requirements of pressure, tackling, and defensive running - his right boot will give him a head start on other players. We simply kicked so poorly to Dawes it was amazing he didn't have a massive Richo in the middle of the ground.

There are some laughable ball watchers on here that say that 'Dawes couldn't hold a mark' but when it is delivered so poorly it makes it nigh-on-impossible to take a mark.

One thing melbourne needs to work on is sheparding and learning to hang back a little or draw a second player away from a contest.. several times we won/would've won the 1v1 but a second player came in and drew a second opponent..

E.g. Bail (i think) on win, wins ball and has an opponent on his tail, Riley was one meter away running in same direction - almost blocking his path and calling for ball. I'd like to see Riley cut off/block bails opponent, instead he got the ball and i think it turned into a tackle/ball up situation.

in another situation, Dawes was on the boundry just outside 50, ball on ground bodying his opponent out, about to pick up and viney runs in and they both go for it (either dawes should block for viney or viney wait for daws and stay away for handball recieve), in the end viney picks up and handballs to opposition while being tackled.

I think as we get better this will happen less, but frustrating at the time to see. Anyway loving how we are playing :) Go dees!

... and two of them involved big Maxy! His tap-out for the Vince goal was top-shelf.

Couldn't agree more. Max was excellent. When he starts to hold his marks in the forward half he will be phenomenal.Jamar seems to grow a foot taller when he is around.

It will come - it does take time. It is so so much better than it was at the start of the season. this will continue to improve as the season wares on

Great to get a win and feels even better to be beating Richmond again.

Highlight of the game for mine was easily Viney selling the candy to kick a goal in the 3rd, he is renowned for his hardness and aggression which makes classy goals like those so damn good to watch.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
