Players to target at the end of the year

Recommended Posts

Anyone throwing Rory Sloanes name into the ring can forget it.

Why would he come back when his parents just moved from Upwey to Glenelg?

And the fact we told him we were gonna pick him and didn't

If we have any brains at all we should offer:

Fyfe: 7 years at a million a year

Danger: 7 years at 1.2 million a year

Tex: 5 years at 1 million a year

We have to go totally loco on this free agency business.

You like money.

different players.

IMO re the tall forward, I think we do not want a one dimension tall forward.

I want a big fella who plays tall full forward (195cm+), CHF just as well, & into the ruck with genuine effectiveness. I'd like our tall forwards to be able to change forward roles with one another.

can Patton play the ruck? essentially its the Clark role.

we need to draft a key defender, & trade for another mature Mid. another tyson type deal.

Cam Pedersen's filling that role manfully at the moment. We also have Fitzy in the wings, however whether he'll develop to fill that role or not who knows?

Some options out there for Mitch's role IMO are Daniel Gorringe from GC, Liam McBean from Richmond, yet to play a game but reckon he's going to be good and Robbie Tarrant from North.

Treloar of GWS is said to be unhappy over in the west sydney badlands and will be on his bike home at end of year.

IMO, he's better value than Scully and definitely worth looking at.

I have been saying it for years, Treloar is GWS's best young midfielder.

I rate him just as highly as O'Meara and would happily see the club go after him. He wouldn't come easy or cheap but he would be worth it (lining up next to Tyson and Viney around the bounce).

Quite interestingly many rated he and Cameron as the best two U18 talents (some slipped in Patton) just prior to the 2011 Draft, as we know GWS had already claimed them.

EDIT: Thanks for the info Jack. I didn't realize he was unhappy up there. Certainly sheds more line on Tyson's joke about living in Western Sydney at the start of year introduction (AGM I think).

Agreed, Treloar is a hard running midfielder disposal that definitely hurts the opposition. Would be glad to give up our first round pick for him and a player. 1st round pick + Blease

Treloar doesn't like Roos, well he said he was his least favorite journalist when he was doing all that stuff.

So dunno...

Sounds stupid I know.

I'd be real surprised if Roosy is not in the face of a few Swans players to get the to the Dees. Between him n Stone I'm sure there will be the odd coffee or phone call here n there. I'm not sure of Luke Parkers contract situation but geez id love him at the Dees!

your right Pedro is doing a great job atmo.

I've got a feeling a few of these types may become available over the course of the next 2 years, & maybe we can rookie one that has been delisted. that we can rehabilitate. we don't want to choke up our development pathway with key players at the same level of progression.

I think the crows have too many as well.

I still feel Fitzy's ontrack, but has taken a half step back just now, I think because of the tall man injuries we had early this year, may have overexposed him before he's ready. everyone matures at their own pace. you can't force it, that have to decide internally, they're ready to do it.

The rumour Treloar wants out appears to be popping up elsewhere also.

http://www.saintsational.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=85434

I'm not entirely sure when his contract expires, that forum suggest the end of next year. Although if he wants out and the right deal comes along beforehand GWS may agree a year earlier.

I also find it amusing that they suggest his desired clubs as "St. Kilda, Collingwood, and Essendon". At this point if he does ask to relocate back to Victoria I don't think it would matter as long as the club is showing signs (for him) and the best deal can be struck (for GWS).

I'm sure Fremantle would be thrilled to let him out of a well payed three year contract just one year in.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/jack-riewoldt-signs-three-year-contract-extension-with-richmond-knocking-back-fremantle-offer/story-fni5f9jb-1226685259617

maybe some trades will happen at end of year? I wonder if this was a deliberate planned, talk to the media?

now who needs a full forward? malthouse, lyon, simpson, richardson, mccartney, hinkley, Emcguire

and who needs a coach?

he's well thought of

those $kill set$ are just what we'd be looking for, if we went scouting for danger.

St Kilda, Collingwood & Essendon?

Can't see why he'd want to go to St Kilda, and they need to use their high picks on tall forwards much more than they need more mids, even if they are of the bluechip variety.

Essendon have nothing much to trade, and are still under the ASADA cloud.

Colligwood is the only plausible option there, but even still I doubt he'd be giving lists like this at such an early stage.

He's simply not in a position to be making demands as to where he goes, unless his destination club ponies up with an equitable deal, and that means giving up a lot.

Dom Tyson gives us an advantage in my eyes.

Surely we look a better prospect than saints or bombers and we'd have the assets to satisfy a trade plus Dom is here

Couldn't agree more mate.

I always find it amusing when these rumours pop up from time to time regarding the players "desired club".

I remember once upon a time when everyone was linking Tyson as a near certainty to Richmond.

Yep, contracted till end of 2015. If he agitates for a move, GWS may consider trade. Might also play hard ball given he's preformed well and they might want to start sending a message to any other wantaways.

If the kid wants to come home and we offer the best financial deal (given the Clark sized hole in the payroll and potential Frawley departure, we would be able to offer plenty), and have the best trading chips, can't imagine him getting too choosy.

If you want to go window shopping, GWS Contract List

2015 is correct for Treloar. Along with Shiel, Patton and a fair few others

They will understand that this year is their chance to get good trades for these guys, leave it to next year and they risk them walking, i reckon we should have a good crack at Treloar and Patton, especially if chip leaves and we have a couple of top 10 picks

I concur on Treloar. He was a little outside in previous years, but he seems to have developed inside game more. Would offer our first rounder for him in a heartbeat.

Well, I'd agree, except Taylor Adams made demands without showing even half of what Treloar has. I agree with everything else though.

Spot on. This off season is the time. It's fortunate that we're just starting to show an upward trajectory. It seems to be coinciding with the down turn of a few lists. I reckon we're a shot if we keep improving this season.

He was a near certainty, they just couldn't get the deal done. I think they will be reviewing that one as a poor decision, the Tiges that is.

Judging by a few posts it seems because Dom came from GWS then his mates will want to join him. I'm not sure that's a compelling reason and who knows which players are his mates anyway.

There is a good reason to join us now though and that is the development and opportunity you would get at Melbourne with the quality of Roos, Stone and Allison and onfield leadership now in place to help grow a career.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
