Spencer also gave 100% against a man mountain in Mumford.

I liked Frawley and Dunn up forward.

Terlich IMO will be dropped next wk after a "Roos roast" at three qrt time cause of his poor decisions/disposal.

One last thing we will win next week against the blue boys.

Deep down we all want this to happen so the pain will stop.

Oh for facks sake. Anybody would think you're in permanent traction. We are simply following a side that's not very good. I still enjoy following them. No problems.

Over the last 8 years, there have been plenty of games that we've lost, badly, after which I come on here to debate.

For a lot of them, I tried as hard as I could to be optimistic, to point to the positives and to focus on those who were debating things rationally.

I've never seen Demonland, and certain posters on here, as despondent as they are now.

We had a bad coach. We fixed that. We still can't play football.

We had a bad CEO. We fixed that. We still can't play football.

We had an awful midfield. We tried to fix that. We still can't play football.

What is standing out so far this year is the ineptitude of so many players. There is a distinct lack of skill across the board, a disgraceful inability to execute the basics.

This is Grimes' 7th year of AFL. He still can't kick. It's Spencer's 6th season of football. He is still appallingly bad as a ruckman. It's Fitzpatrick's 4th, and he still looks like he has just finished school.

We have Byrnes, Bail, Evans, Terlich and M Jones who, along with Spencer and Fitzpatrick, almost certainly wouldn't be getting games at any other club.

We have defenders like Pedersen and McDonald, who can do certain things but are very limited in their skills.

We have talented players in Watts and Howe (along with others like Blease and Strauss) who are far, far too inconsistent.

I think the one thing that has been consistent in our 8-year slump is that we do not play like a team. We play like 22 individuals trying to play their own roles. We don't gel. We don't work for one another. Our communication is poor. Our feel and sense of where players are going to be is non-existent. Our confidence in our teammates to do what needs to be done is zero. We drop our heads too easily because we don't have that faith and that sense of being in things as a team. We are a group of individuals who aren't very talented and for whom mistakes destroy confidence, and since we make a lot of mistakes, we lose that confidence too quickly.

I cringe every time we trade an early draft pick for a package/player. I was against giving up pick 20 for Ben Holland, a low pick to Geelong for Clint Bizzel(They selected James Kell with our pick) & pick whilst I like Tyson & hope Salem will be gun. I saw Kelly as a young gun with poise something we lack. It's so hard to follow Melbourne. Hope we start playing players with grunt, talent and footy nous. I'm sick of players who can't kick or read the play.

If we had taken Kelly, he'd stink (because he'd have no midfield support, he'd have no one to kick to, he'd have no leadership, and he'd be asked to be doing too much too soon). Then you and everyone else would be saying 'why did we take another skinny kid?'.

Our recent drafting has been fine and is not even close to being relevant in why we're despicable right now.

Judd doesn't really either. I'm just happy for Tyson to be getting his hands on the ball so often. Once he has some more support and spread from the midfield, I'll expect goals from him.

Mumford destroyed Spencer today. Not even close to a contest. Spencer was woeful.

I've never seen anything in Spencer to suggest he'll be any good at AFL level, and 2014 has strengthened that view.

I wouldn't follow the AFL if Melbourne went. But EPL doesn't have a team called London.

Thats just a historical anomaly. You will rarely see it in any other major codes.

At the end of the day, Roos has proven that the problem is that we have a poor list and more players than not who are at genuine AFL standard. We have replaced many with like I think.

For too long Ive been watching players that look about as excited as I do when I go to work...

He was pretty poor but given it's his first game back I'm willing to cut him a bit of slack today.

Exactly plus he's 19. Bailey/Neeld would have had Salem playing already rather than let him develop.

Tyson can't get close to the goals at the moment 'Gonzo', give the kid a break he is too busy extracting the ball around the middle. He's been our only positive in a very poor year.

Give him time to rest forward and he would get his fair share.

15th game of football and he's one of the few carrying the club.

I can remember from 64 on. After serious reflection (and no reds yet!) I can't remember feeling so bad. I've hardened up over the years, and keep going to the games, and that won't change.

Things I want to see from the Dees

1.Watts to stop leaning over and sticking his arms out in an "attempt" to tackle

2. Desperation matched to talent

3. Brutality at the contest, and if the man is in the way then so be it

Just turned on Ess vs Carlton - neither are much chop, but don't think we'd get close to either.

We clearly have serious off field leadership with PJ and Roos

We also, clearly, have a $hit list

And if I were Frawley, I'd be off like a bride's nightie at the end of the year.

The only answer is to wait longer, but this is killing membership numbers and ratings

That's a huge problem.

The way we treated Watts (the QBD debacle), Trengove (youngest ever AFL captain), Grimes (not really the leader we made him out to be), Morton (how many positions did we try playing him in?), amongst others, has severely contributed to our demise.

Tyson has been probably our second best player this year FCS and I think he has showed so much to keep us excited. Kelly kicked a couple goals and looked good but have a little faith in our boy first.

I still worry however looking at the Port vs Roos game. The Roos hit the lead and then guess who wins a couple 50/50's to get the ball back for the Power?? I'll give everyone a clue, his name starts with Ollie

I'm not saying I'm unhappy with Tyson, just made the observation he hasn't shown that aspect to his game yet. None of our mids have shown it and you need a few goalkicking mids in your side these days (or should I say most of your mids need to be able to find the goals).

Tyson is the least of our worries. it's the turnover specialists that are killing us.

it's quite clear Terlich, M Jones, Bail, Spencer, Evans, Fitz, Byrnes and possibly Grimes and Trengove are not up to it and need to be replaced ASAP. Many others are marginal at best. Had a gut full.

agree with that assessment aside from Trengove and Grimes, those two have shown enough over the years to think they are worth keeping in team

We had a preseason full of hope, only to have our hearts ripped and stomped upon once again.

I can understand one , two three, four or five poor years, but weve been trash for ten years now with no end in sight.

I hate the buggers now, because my son just hasnt had a chance to fall in love with footy.
