I disagree that he'd be a huge loss. When you consider his performance over the last couple of years for us and as a role model, he ain't really doing a great job. As many have observed, body language, lack of effort and intensity and care factor. These things are have been evident when watching him play for some time now.

As a club we're in such a unique and awkward position... It's clear we need to address our list as a whole, bring in some new, fresh and hungry players and move on some that have been at our club for so long that it's clearly afftecting their output and it's contributing to our clubs downward spiral.

There's no point adopting an emotional predisposition on an individual when you've got an entire football club literally dying...

If there's a possibility of gaining pick 2 for Frawley, I'd take it in a heart beat. With the people, coaches and recruiting staff now at the club, you'd be confident that we'd get the pick right and the player would be given the opportunity to develop properly.

We cannot let our previous bad drafting record undervalue our early picks and we shouldn't force a bad trade. Jason Taylor needn't be punished for the bad work of others.

In my opinion, Frawley and his manager should be asked to meet with the MFC footy department. At that TAPED meeting he should be asked if the newspaper article is correct and he is asking $800000 to move to a new club. A yes or no answer. If he says yes its correct the MFC should offer him a 4 year deal of $700000 a year plus possible bonuses.

Ifs he refuses the deal and still intends to move on next year, tell his manager and him thanks for coming in to talk and wish him a merry Christmas. After he has left the room the MFC should drop him to Casey and leave him there for the rest of the year.

With the rest of the year we should use it to get our backline organised and decisions on draft replacements thought over.

Hawks got bugger all because as the winner of the flag their first round pick was 18. The compo for such highly paid players is the next pick after their first round pick.

Its sad to say but we are almost certain to finish last and therefore have pick number 1. And if Frawley gets a long term deal around the 700k mark we will get pick 2.

For the immediate future, if Frawley goes it would be worse than if he stayed. But if (massive if) we drafted/traded correctly, we could come out ahead in a couple of years time, than if he stays.

I'd much rather take 1 step back now, if it meant taking 2 steps forward immediately after that step back (and we maintained that advantage). Not 1 step back followed by 2 steps forward then 2-3 steps back. But an overall gain, so long as it doesn't take ages to get here or that it never gets here at all. But that cannot be 100% guaranteed, even if you are a club that isn't as inept as one like ours.

If losing Frawley means another top 2-3 pick, i'd take that every day of the week, because he simply doesn't do the basic things that he should be doing every game (none of our list does).

And if my team was in serious premiership contention for the next few years, but needed to fix up their backline a bit, i'd pay that for him too. The question is, how much are you willing to pay to win a premiership? I'd just about sell my soul, as we have been starved for even the smallest of successes for so long.

It's just that we are so far off that stage, we cannot / should not pay that amount for him, because he alone will not fix our problems.

If Frawley really wanted to stay at Melbourne and really cared about our plight and strengthening our club, he'd take the minimum amount acceptable and reasonable, so that we could throw that extra money at trying to land another good player to help improve the team (not waste it on just trying to keep him). If $500,000 is his market value and a fair offer, he would want to accept it. Not be extremely selfish and try to bleed as much out of the club as possible.

If he holds us to ransom and wants something way more than he is worth or has rightly earned, then we should have the balls to wish him the best of luck at another club without a second thought. Because it would be the best thing overall for the MFC.

When i think of someone who gives his all for the MFC, my mind would go to Nathan Jones a million times before it would ever go to Frawley.

We have to spend $9.5m a year - that is approx. the salary cap floor.

If we paid people what they have been worth - Nathan Jones would have to be about $5m for us to reach the $9.5m number.

We always bemoan losing talent. It would be good to keep Frawley - don't kid yourself it wouldn't be.
