Would likely get a bag of chips for him at this stage. More value in keeping him for his experience than giving him away cheaply. Certainly the development of Gawn and Pencil indicates his value in that regard, and if he can stay injury free there may be another decent run in him.

:The residual issue is what he adds outside of the ruck contest, which is pretty much nothing. I think Roos can address that.

Without a decent offer, which seems extremely unlikely, I'd be keeping him on.

I suppose I should've gone through the entire post! Interesting that we've refuted the article, usually if there's truth to it they let it slide.

I still think it would be the best move for both parties, but whatever happens happens.

Going by our recent history a quick denial to a fresh rumour is reason enough to highten suspicion.

I think at that time when Jamar signed that contract, that Gawn, Spencer, & Fitz were under-performing with Gawn injured.

Stefan Martin had been going OK though.

The value in trading Jamar is not what we would get back in a trade, it's ridding ourselves of a 2 year albatross and freeing what you'd assume is some pretty significant cap space.

Since when is cap space an issue for us Doc? We're up to our ears in cap space are we not?

Well if they come out and say that they have agreed to part then that would probably lower his trade value.

Whereas if we come out and say we are willing to trade him but he is still wanted then we might be able to get a slightly better deal.

Pick 87 instead of 88 then?

Yep we should be but who knows what the list manager's been doing the last few years. We may need that extra cap room at the end of next year if we want to keep Frawley, re-sign Jones etc

This would be a nothing trade. We already have 7 spots to fill this offseason.

Meh.

7 spots? Isn't it 8? Or am I miscounting, perhaps due to rookie upgrades or something.

  • Davey
  • Sylvia
  • Rodan
  • MacDonald
  • Davis
  • Tynan
  • Sellar
  • Gillies

(plus rookie spot for Couch)

Those 8 out, Hogan in. I'd say we are up already
