R.I.P. Demonology

Recommended Posts

There has been a lot of statistical and historical input in to Ology, in particular work done by Graeme Smith, and this work was supposed to be available to all concerned when they had re written the site.

it was all about the history of the club and the history of the players; this work will now, not be available unless the new owners allow it and it really doesn't belong to them or in fact the previous owner.

That's my understanding of the situation unless someone wants to correct me.

Now you've had your fun so zip it.

Unless you really have a valid point to raise or something of interest to contribute?

Gotcha Robbie. Was it more in depth (or better) than the Demon Wiki? All I've known of 'Ology is the forum.

I'm honestly not trying to "have fun" or anything like that, I'm just trying to understand the side of it where people are saying the new owners will effect the club itself, and they plan to make heaps of money off it. That's all I've been searching for answers on from the start. I've posted links to the internet laws regarding parts of this situation, I've read all the posts, but I honestly don't understand two things:

1) How a free internet forum suddenly becomes a get rich quick scheme?

2) How an unofficial internet forum effects the image/reputation/running of MFC itself?

I'm honestly not trying to cause trouble. I keep asking those questions, but I get called a troll in response, with no answers.

Didn't post as Mikey on Ology by any chance, Stuie?

Similiar levels of.... well everything actually.

Ah that's who Stuie is! Didn't he also get turfed from the 'Ology? I believe he had the reputation of being the most annoying poster there before Doctor Who took it away from him.

I'm Stuie in both places.

Ironic when you get called a troll while this rubbish is directed at you.

Just read this thread top to bottom and I must say it's a page turner. Having never posted on demonology I found this thread akin to the The Da Vinci code with it's obscure references, shadowy figures, secret societies and red herrings. Dan Brown take note here lies the basis of your next book.

Just a quick post to let anyone who may not know already that the Mario Brothers have handed control of Demonology back to Tim - I think it got a little too hot in the kitchen. Already there have been many offers help to Tim get the site up and running efficiently, so it appears that the site may need to be renamed Lazarus.

I know there were some who didn't have a high opinion of the site, but it would still be nice to occasionally visit and help the site gather some momentum... there is plenty of room for both Demonology and Demonland to co-exist comfortably - as became very apparent in the now locked RIP Demonology thread, many of us here are also members there.

One last thing... please don't turn this topic into another slag/slug fest.

Demonology.me

Most of us have lost our log in privileges at demonology, we are setting up a new forum at address above, will probably replace old software, see you there.

Is that still operational or is it offline while updates are being made... for the past couple of hours at least all I can get is the Crazy Domains website when I try that address. I had assumed that since Tim had taken control of Demonology back into his own hands, that the newer version (dawsi03's site) had been shelved for the time being.

Nope... still going to Crazy Domains... strange

I had the same problem for a while. Probably has something to do with isp's and dns', although I have no idea what either of those mean.

I've joined up (pending approval!) and look forward to discussing some footy again.

Must say that I had lost the will during the Neeld years and the time difference being in the UK.

No luck yet?

It's strange... I am on my work PC at the moment and having no problems accessing the site; it appears to be from my home MacBook Pro/PC (I'm running a dual boot system with Windows 7 in Bootcamp). It may be just a cache issue, but it is happening in both Safari on the Mac side and Firefox on the Windows side. Anyway, will check it out this evening when I get home.

No... all good now though... it is all working now despite the fact I didn't have to clear my cache or do anything special. Weird.

dns servers (the ones that translate an ip name to an IP address) can take time to receivet updates

the ones at your isp might have been one of the later ones

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
