Alot of people said that maybe Roos wouldnt have the dedication and passion to coach and was only in it for the money. But to fly from Sydney to perth just to talk to have a chat to Hogan shows hell alot of dedication to me.

On ya Roosy.

I think Peter Jackson ran out of credit on his phone.

No but in all seriousness we should expect nothing less (I agree tho it does show he means business).

Roosy really is fired up isn't he, i hope this rubs off on the players leading into a huge pre season for the club!

Roos is a proud man who sees a chance to leave a legacy on Aussie Rules bigger than anything he could have imagined.

He will want to go down in history as the man that resurrected the dying Demons.

The thing that makes it sweeter is when Roos says there this talent on this list, people sorta just laugh, i hope Roos makes them look stupid and fast,

i reckon we have the potential to turn this around real quick.

Love the enthusiasm and back slapping but you guys need to read the article again. The trip to Perth was organised mid year according to Mahoney with a view to talk with new coach and about plans for hogan moving forward. This does not mean that he is going to talk to him about contract extension or the like as that is discussed with others in the football department. Roos will likely sit down and have discussion with Hogan and family about how the club will manage him in the coming season, more to reassure them that the club will keep the hype and expectations in check so he can have a really good debut and first season.

It is great that Roos is our coach but ppl attributing the decision to go to Perth as an inspired move on Roos behalf is a bit hysterical.

Remember D landers "He is not the Messiah, he's just a very naughty Dees Coach"

The conspiracy theorist also by continuing to say he had signed or agreed to coach earlier in the year means your saying that he is a liar and dishonest. As Roos has continually outlined that his views on coaching MFC had only changed a few weeks prior to signing. It's a bit hypocritical to call him wonderful on one hand and a bulltisher on the other.

Well Pug, it's just a conspiracy theory.

No one said they believed it.

Talking of conspiracies, I'm surprised that no-one has raised that which is most obvious to me: that members of the board have been in touch with Roos for 6 months (according to GNF) laying the groundwork for this Roos-coup and the it has gone off so successfully while other members of the board flailed away and sank. I think it less likely that the board acted in a coherent and effective fashion on this topic. Somewhere, a group of suits has plotted a way out of the Neeld mess, seen off the Stynes legacy board members and shoved the club away from the Hollywood Boulevard influences within and without.

If true, (perhaps a big if) this is the biggest successful political maneuver at the MFC to be good since..well, since I've paid attention...

All without leaks (except you, GNF).

Now THERE"S a conspiracy theory!

Hopefully Paul Roos Galvanizes this group like Steve Waugh did when he became the captain of the Australian cricket team!! Would love 16 straight haha!

Does that mean you are expecting him to play?

Was it the Board the leaks were coming from our an ex-CEO with a shiney wooden desk?

Good book The Magician, read it a number of times.

I think I have worn out a couple of copies of Magician over the years as I like to go through the series every so often. It easy to do because the books at last count were up to 30 different novel centred around a young boy from Crydee.

Haha, yeah I loved them too.

Have you read the Terry Goodkind series The Sword of Truth? IMO it is the best I've read - big call I know, but I reckon better than The Magician

I have heard of it but never read it. Will definitely check it out as need a new series to delve into.

My favourite character in the Riftwar series is Nakor.

Yes that is exactly where Hogan sits, potential but has not played a game yet. Not sure I agree with this hype. Not sure too many coaches would be flying over the continent to see a player we already have signed, who is going nowhere for 2 years and who is yet to play a senior game. I reckon if I was Roos I have a lot on and I will catch up with Jesse face to face when he is back training. Happy to check in by phone or Skype in the meantime. But then I am old school.

I'm pretty sure I read that the club promised to meet up with Hogan, his Family and Manager prior to the end of this year and they are fulfilling this commitment.

Plus of course, they are negotiating Selwood's trade terms.

Definitely worth getting into.

Been a year or so since I read the series, I can't remember Nakor - the name sounds Tsurani though??

My favorites were Tomas (pure power) and Meecham (for stealth)!

... actually didn't you know,,, it was Vlad all along, since early 2012, pondering the state of the Mfc.... & thinking he needs to take control & fix this place, before he go-go's.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
