Fast. Loves a goal. Wildcard type. Reminds me of Isaac Smith, with the ability to grab the footy and accelerate.

He has combined country footy with cricket. Talented cricketer, and has been captain of Casey South Melbourne cricket club for the last 2 seasons.

One thing i really hate, is when supporters on here suggest recruits that the club ignores.... Then that recruit becomes a star.....jeez... Pretty sure we could have had a list of champions from demonland recruiters...

Hows about you demonland recruiters start forwarding your knowledge on to the club..... Please!

Best will get picked up by an AFL club. Late main draft or rookie. He's done too much not to be noticed.

Steady on. Nahas and Saad had both kicked a lot more goals than Best has this year when they got picked.

He'll spike a lot of interest due to his good form and has been invited to a state draft screening but that's no guarantee. The questions will be

1) How much improvement does he have considering he's been a cricketer more than a footballer to this year

2) Is he really good enough, it's a hard life playing small forward in the AFL and you generally need either extreme pace, top line defensive work or midfield potential

I'm surprised that Jake Best wasn't drafted as a rookie at the very least.

He really showed something in his debut season for the Scorpions and I thought he was worth a try and that a club like Melbourne would have made a good fit.

Understand that he will remain at Casey and I'm hoping that he continues his improvement from the start to the end of the season - he could become one of the competition's star players.

I think most supporters of the VFL competition would be disappointed with the outcome of the drafts. Not many picked and a few of those were AFL retreads from the past.

I'm surprised too KC.

What I saw of Best was all class.

Fast long runs resulting in goals.

Obviously a gun sportsman to Captain South Melbourne CC as well.

Sorry but Casey CC does not exist in my mind.

For his sake I hope he has a great 2014. For our sake I hope we haven't missed a shot at a guy who's going to climb up the draft boards this time next year

Was Jake Best nominated for the rookie draft?

because i have a few mates that play vfl. who spoke to AFL clubs which were guaranteeing them rookie positions, but chose not to be taken in the rookie draft and withdrew

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
