in all seriousness I almost applaud that rotten place for its determination to stay afloat. It must be so much in the red that black cant ever be seen as a point of destination lol

I been looking into the Club 2013 financial statements.

It not a great time for the Club as its spent most of its cash on paying for the new High Performance Centre.

They had to take out a $5 million dollar loan which had specific finance obligations on the Club to pay for the new facility.

The Club had current assets of $6,8 million with current liabilities of $13.3 million. This would indicate the Club has a significant cash flow issue. But there was a comment made in the financial report that the Club expects to be able to roll over the $5 million dollar loan until its paid off. Not sure what that means at this point but the current ratio is of concern even if you remove the loan from this calculation.

It appears that the $1.6 million non current liability must be the unpaid amount of the $2 million dollar fine from the AFL. This would indicate the Club will not be paying the AFL the unpaid amount of their fine within the next 12 months.

No real detail is given on the Statement of Comprehensive Income (Income Statement) but if you remove abnormal income related item the 2 million dollar profit becomes a 3 million dollar loss.

The club does have significant land and building assets which could be sold if needed.

This Club should not get any financial support of the AFL and should be required to pay the outstanding fine as they have the financial resource to do so. Which will require the Club to have higher debt levels.

What is the abnormal income relating to, DF?

good work DF.

certainly should the EFC have a large amount of players suspended etc etc or end up deeply in debt they certainly should not get any help from the AFL, be it financial or in the form of draft concessions or the like.

this is a hole of their own making - and they have only dug it deeper in the last 2 years.

What is the abnormal income relating to, DF?

If I remember correctly it was for the High Performance Centre e.g Donations etc.

Hahaha what a classic video.

I am suprised Windy Pill have any sponsors left on their books.

Essendon is also insisting it will not trade Jason Winderlich or allow him to leave the club as a free agent by releasing him from his contract for 2015, despite his desire to join Richmond.

Winderlich triggered a contract extension at the end of the season, which he originally planned to walk away from by retiring. The contract means he is currently bound to the Bombers, who want him to play on with them next year.

Richmond believes the deal offered to Winderlich would see Essendon compensated with a draft pick should it release him and let him walk to the Tigers as an unrestricted free agent.

That might appeal to Essendon given the club will otherwise lose Winderlich to retirement and receive nothing.

It's staggering the level of stupidity at all levels of this farcical club. He's either staying retired or playing with another club. This leaves you with two options:

A. Let him move to another club and get a free compensation pick, potentially ~38.

or B. Refuse to let him move to another club, so he stays retired and you receive nothing at all.

Geez, hard choice that one. Naturally, they've chosen option B.:rolleyes:

Может все с помощью Google Translate пожалуйста, прекратите ради трахает or in other words just cut and paste this ' ебать ' for emphasis, however I much prefer vittusaatana (spoken phonetically) - anyway who really can pronounce anything written in the cyrillic alphabet. vittusaatana is also much more appropriate for the MFC anyway and I really laugh every time my wife says it.

They got to keep Hird as coach as this is priceless!

Between bans, lack of recruiting options and players leaving 2015 looks interesting.

I bet every draftee tanked their interview in combine week when it was the Bombers turn. Yikes.

Read a snippet that Kristian Jaksch has literally refused to talk to the bombers who showed interest in him.

Very plausible. I have had a few dealings with Kristian - and know him as someone who speaks his mind.

Seriously why would a young player who wants to settle into a footy club want to go anywhere near Essendon. Who's going to be coach? Who's going to be captain? What story are they going to spin you?

What about a young kid and his parents sweating on the draft? What would you fear most - an invitation to leave home for the joys of Western Sydney or a daily trip down the Tullamarine Freeway behind a convoy of lawyers?

Ready or not - I guess you might be a 'shoo in' to make your debut in Round 1 2015!!

Plus Howlett said he'd leave if Hird does.

mmmmmm delicious.

So far as I am aware he is the only one to back Hird to this extreme. No great loss for them. OK player but no star. Not exactly twisting the clubs arm.

Yeah but it's another crack in the dam, they add up :)

Also I find it amusing that Bomberblitz have named their trading forum "Essendon is Not Appealing".

At least someone over there has a good sense of humour.

This whole beautiful sordid tale is becoming very similar to a 70's Disaster Movie.

Only Charlton Heston can save this wreck from total obliteration

Airport '75 is a marvellous sit com!!

James "Icarus" Hird has only one way to go.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
