I'd take Trenners in the centre square over McKenzie every day of the week. Even a slow, lethargic Trenners is a better proposition than McKenzie. Trengove can handball and kick. McKenzie is ordinary at both.

Have to agree. Will be very surprised if he doesn't make the top 5 in the bluey.

Roos even said himself that he is going to let Trengove play his natural game of hunting the ball.

To let him play with instinct rather than a reactive role will be a sight to behold.

With a good side, neither would be anywhere near the centre square, they have not done enough.

Viney had far more impact in his first year than Trenners had in the centre this year.

Trengove has to lift notches next year to even get a gig in the centre.

Trengove isn't the quickest bloke about, but neither is Hayes, Ball or Selwood.

He just needs to be able to straightline the ball at contests, keep running all day, getting to stoppage after stoppage, putting his head over it and winning the hard footy.

I'm waiting for a Trengove Renaissance in 2014.

I just dont ever see him as an elite clearance player. That title goes to Viney in time. Trengove is an accumulator. He gets the ball through work rate and footy smarts and then uses it cleverly. I don't know if he'll be elite but I see him like Steele Sidebottom but stronger overhead marking. Which is why I think he will be played on a rotation between half forward, wing and some time in the centre square. And of course I expect him to bounce back and be a very good player, probably averaging low to mid 20 touches a game and kicking some goals as well.

You have 3 centre square midfielders at any one stage right? That's a total of 300% game time. I see Jones doing 70, McKenzie (tagging) 70, Vince 50, Viney 50 that's 240. Michie, Tyson, Trengove share the rest.

Paul Roos rates him as having absolutely A grade elite potential, and i have heard many other people say he has been played out of position, all he needed was confidence, to get over his injuries, and to get back into the centre bounce situations where he belongs, not on a wing or high half forward!

When I think of Trengove at his best I remember his tackle on Dangerfield which he was given 3 weeks suspension for. I remember him being aggressive and hungry around the contest and strong. It is just a shame how over the past 2 years he has played so differently to try to benefit the team, or through injury niggles/fitness, or the burden of captaincy, that our opinions of him have changed negatively compared to his first 2 years. But he is 22 and should have a breakout year 2014

hahaha.. harsh but fair.

Trenners will be a lot better next year. It'd be hard for him to be worse. There signs of momentum towards the end, just needs to empty the concrete out of his boots.

I expect a lot of time being put into Trenners this offseason to find out why he has lost a lot of his explosiveness and pace. And I fully expect it to return in 2014.

I don't know what Bailey and Neeld have done to him, but in his first season I recall being excited at his headfirst attack on the contested footy, long raking kick when he got it to his boot, and even some creative handball.

Come his 3rd season there was very little of any of that left.

He was just a reactive tagger.

I think you could say that about a lot of our players under Neeld....Reactive......Kick it to the boundry....No flair or attack.....Hope this changes next year....

As strange as this might sound to some I am just as excited if not more excited to see Viv Michie next year over Tyson.

I don't know why exactly, I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe because Freo didn't want to let him go.

Needless to say I am finally beginning to get prematurely excited to see what the club and particularly its young players will produce over the coming years with a coaching panel I feel confident about.

By no means do I expect top 8 next year, although competitive aggressive football with a few wins is looking likely.

I think Viv will be a fine acquisition.

Saw him at Falls a few weeks back. He's a big unit, has a great size on him and really stands out in a crowd.

Hoping he has a huge influence at our clubs, I think he'll kill it.
