nah.i cant ignore him

he is the first person ive known that's got a BOOKKEEPER

Really!

Well I am a fully qualified and experienced Accountant so I know I can kick his simple Bookkeeper behind as well!

I was wrong to suggest Collingwood to him he would be more welcomed at the WCE or even Hawthorne but any place but here.

classic Robbie ,your a pisser

if your that old perhaps your bookkeeper can get down this way and I will teach them how to milk cows, yes that a real job

then after 5 lazy easy days your B/K can go home to the estate and confirm we are not all dole bludgers.some of us actually consider farming a worthy occupation ,good luck getting this years gin and tonic record ,perhaps the gentry at the all Melbourne club will spur you on to greater deeds.should your chauffer quit I hear the biff is looking for a job,you could be called a builder of the country under tonys new open for business campaign

Mate I'll give you a tip, don't ever consider comedy if ever you quit the farm, it just doesn't work for you.

I needed someone to handle payments to creditors on behalf of my company and I looked in the local paper for a bookkeeper and I employed one through the section marked "Bookkeepers". Now you probably don't know what that is but it's someone that is a liaison (I assume you know what that means) between the company and its accountant and also handles payments and preparation of accounts. Are you still with me, I will slow it down if you are having a problem.

Now Bree is a young lady who has a business providing "Bookkeeping services" to those in need of them, she works vey hard and does a great job, I'm sure if she wanted to milk cows she could but I guess she would prefer to have the part time work I provide her so she can spend time with her young children.

Now I'm glad you are a dairy farmer, you might even provide milk to one of my major clients, so keep up the good work, but not all of us want to work on the land, so I'll pass up on the offer.

Just to clarify, I don't drink, I don't have a chauffeur and I'm not a member of the Melbourne Club, in fact the only club I am a member of is the MFC.

Now if you have any more questions, suggestions or words of advice let me know and I'll do my best to help you out although that's a big job and I don't have that many years left.

And remember my advice, don't attempt humour, you just sound stupid, some can some can't it's an art and you simply don't have it; i'd hate to see you continue to make yourself look foolish.

It takes a bit to upset me but not a lot to annoy me, good luck to you as we'll for the rest of your life. I've got 4 sons but no daughters and they work in differing areas one works with me, one works in the same industry, one works in IT and earns a packet of money, more than me and one works up north in an industrial company that makes road signs; none on the land.

The other guy doesn't upset me I just hate it when someone that doesn't have a clue shoots their mouth off as if they do.

Have we finished here are we all done; the election is over and I'd rather move back to the football.

I don't think we will ever agree on this I don't consider it a benefit if I have to pay a bit less tax, so lets agree to disagree.

Lol no way known was I ever going to get the $900, you do realise it was means tested don't you?

So you can't hand back what you never received; I take it you got it?

I did in fact know that, but I'm pretty sure the cut-off for that was an income of $100,000 per year. I don't know a lot of people on that sort of money who don't do any sort of salary sacrifice, so I was a little surprised. I'm pretty shocked to hear you have a son who's 40, which puts you past or at age pension age. You know you might get more age pension if you salary sacrifice first right?

Or I guess you don't care, because you don't want to take anything from the government.

So what are you going to do when you retire? You must be close to that age as stated. I don't see how you CAN'T live without getting a government benefit.

Either your super money will be rolled into pension phase, where you will pay no tax on earnings OR DRAWDOWNS (concessionally treated environment), or maybe you'll get an annuity which is also concessionally treated.

Better not get the age pension either, that comes with all sorts of government benefits like the pension card and discounted medications, as well as actual money given to you by the government.

You could put all your assets into cash or property, but then you'll probably earn a whole lot of nothing from an income perspective, which means you'll get the low income health care card. Or at a minimum, the seniors health care card.

I'm not being factitious here, but how are you NOT going to take a government handout/concession?

Jesus I have difficulty following you. You did what ages ago? Remember if you have a thought in your mind it doesn't mean I'm privy to it I don't know what's going on in there.

Take the blame for what? Have you been drinking?

You added the request for the milk price increase after I'd started to post my reply so unless I had access to your brain I wouldn't know that, would I?

I'm not female I don't know where you gat that from; are you on medication?

My client believes they pay a fairly high price for Milk at the moment, so I guess it's the classic, the buyer thinks he's paying too much, the seller thinks he's not getting enough. The problem is that when milk is plentiful, September, you can't get rid of it when it's in short supply you can ask what you want for it. Do you maintain supply during the off season?

Anyway back to football.

How ironic that a Coal Miner (Clive Palmer) will win a seat in Parliament, on Green and Labor preferences, the hypocrisy of it all.

Meanwhile, they accuse the Liberals of sucking up to the rich miners.

Who would you have liked them to preference instead Robbie?

The biggots at Family First?

Their direct opposition in the Liberal/National party?

Or maybe the racists at One Nation or Rise up Australia Party???

Since the Liberals (and Meg Lees of course) killed off the Democrats, Labor & The Greens could throw a blanket over the rest as to who and what order they should preference in. I was upset that I had to number the Palmer United member number 4 on election Day when I was doing my house of reps card with 9 options. But I sure as hell wasn't going to preference any of the other 5 options ahead of them.

This is exactly why I left I needed to vote informal.

The preference deals are completely hypocritical and compromised, and I disagree with massive swaths of policies the major parties (greens included) hold.

Does anyone else feel like our democratic system is broken? Or is it just me feeling unrepresented?

I don't think I've ever felt represented by any government we've had so far. Judging by how many people are happy about the Abbott victory, I guess I'm in the minority (although I felt like that in 07 with Rudd as well :P )

Let's see, the choice is a maniac miner like Palmer who is totally irrational and nearly as demented as Rudd, or an established Political Party like the Liberals who are much easier to deal with and were going to win the election with or without this seat?

What do you reckon I'd do?

I preference'd the Labor Party before the Greens, because as much as I despise the Labor Party I'd prefer them to the mad hatters with the destructive policies, the Greens.

But that's me, in principle I couldn't support the Greens and I certainly wouldn't preference Palmer ahead of the Labor Party if I had to vote in that electorate, once again on principle.

We all see things differently.

All I can say is both parties are now seen to have no principle, giving a voice to a Miner in Parliament is shameful.

No, it only seems that way when your choice is defeated.

The Senate needs an overhaul with all the single issue candidates, with in one case some 1900 first votes, elected.

It appears to me the voters were playing games and it's backfired, now we have some candidates with no idea and no policies representing us. It will mean that there will have to be extra resources and money wasted showing these, in some cases clowns, how the system works.

Once again we have the Miner Palmer, holding the Country to ransom with the balance of power, he has said his candidates will vote how he tells them to, so much for democracy, they will be like paid employees, nice one Tall Defence, I guess you voted for them as well. You know how it works; Palmer will hold the Government to ransom, you do this and I'll do that.

That's what comes when people don't put proper thought in to what they do and don't consider the possible outcomes.

You vote for the minor parties did you choke, are you one of the ones responsible for that idiot who has Kangaroo Poo fights, being elected?

Posted

Well this is my point, I couldn't chose. That's why I feel like the system is broken. There was no choice for me. I could not find a candidate that presented a vision for Australia's future that I agreed with.

I couldn't even vote purely on ideology over policy, as someone advised me they do when in this situation. That would have lead me to vote for Labour, and I could not in good conscience give them my vote.

Please read my post, it says I voted informal, not for a minor party. That means I sullied my vote, it counted for no one.

It was the best option I felt I had, given the poor options on offer.

Grow up and make a decision, casting an informal vote is a cop out.

That's true, in a political stance I stand nowhere because no-one stands for me. However instead of this stance leading me to protest vote for a stupid minor party with compromised preferences, I chose to register for none.

An informal vote is a vote for nothing. It's a demonstration that I'm actively disengaged by the politics that our parties subject us to. I'm happy to vote for 'none of the above'.

Grow up and make a decision? That's a little arrogant. There was no decision I could make in this election that I could live with.

Your 65 years does not make your decision to vote (for either party) better than mine. Maybe whoever you voted for actually represents your interests. I'd love to be in that position.

I'd love to listen to Abbott or Rudd talk about shipping refugees off to PNG and actually agree with them.

I'd love to listen to Abbott talk about castrating the NBN and agree.

I'd love to listen to Rudd talk about moving single mothers onto newstart and agree.

It'd make life so much easier. But life isn't easy and apparently neither is politics.

Informal voting is not a cop out. I'd wager I thought longer and harder about my informal vote than others have who simply voted for whatever party they had voted for for the last 50 years.

A system where 30% of voters on either side will just never change sides despite their party not reflecting their best interests is, in my opinion, broken.

I'm happy to keep engaging with you on this, but I'm sure you'll just say "we each have our own opinion" at the end of it so I guess there isn't much point.

I agree that the senate needs a partial overhaul and that you should win at least 5% of the Primary vote to get in, otherwise it's a system that's worked us well up until now.

As for Palmer holding the country to ransom, he has 2 seats. Liberal Party will have 33, Family First 2 (and lets face it, their just the right wing faction of Liberal), Labor 25, Greens 10 and then we've got the Motor Enthusiast, Sports Party, Democratic Liberal Party (Gun nut) and the experienced independent Nick Xenophon.

It's up to the Liberal Party to convince Family First (easy enough) and the 4 of Nick Xenophon, Motor Enthusiast, Sports Party and DLP that what they want to pass is just and for the good of the country and there's no issue. No holding the country to ransom by Palmer or negative politics by Labor or The Greens, after all that's the Liberal Party's game anyway.

Anyway that's how the senate's suppose to work, it's suppose to be up to some smaller parties who can look at things from a different perspective to decide whether what the government want passed, should be passed. What you seem to be thinking is a good idea is a dictatorship... I'm sure Christopher Pine would agree with you there, however that never seems to work out to well. Anyway, if it wasn't for the Liberal Party (& Meg Lees of course) the Democrats would probably of still been a viable option and held anywhere from 4-6 of the 8 remaining senate seats, held the balance of power and we wouldn't have the mess of a senate that we're seeing now. Make no mistake, this can be linked back to the GST first being introduced.

Oh and by the way, I voted Greens in the senate Robbie, as at least I know they're not going to just rubber stamp anything that comes through whether it's Labor or Liberal in power. If Democrats were still a viable option I would have voted for them however.

Posted (edited)

I know I shouldn't be, but I'm still chuckling at the sheer insanity of talking about winning over the "Motor Enthusiast" and "Sports Party". Parliament is a circus anyhow, but this is just crazy for these Mickey Mouse acts with their platforms of "mateship" and "taking pride in our vehicles" to become MPs.

Glen Lazarus is now a Senator ffs.

Are they even going to show up? Palmer has his fingers in a million pies, figuratively and literally.

If this isn't a trigger for reform then I don't know what is.

So you voted Greens (who are the extreme left version of the Labor Party) did you, did you see who they preference'd I bet is was Palmer; hypocrites.

There will be alliances in the Senate as there were in the lower house last Parliamentary period and there is every possibility that some of these new Senators will align with the Labor/Green coalition so the numbers you speak of may and probably will become irrelevant. I would imagine the member for Kangaroo Poo will find a natural home with the Labor Party, not sure about the rest.

I'm not suggesting a dictatorship rather a workable senate, we've seen how a dysfunctional lower house works over the past 3 years and I'd like some stability, I've voted for the Democrats before and they were once a good party but just lost their way.

Tony Abbott is on record as saying (2008) that the worst thing was them getting a majority in both houses in 2004 as it allowed them to pass legislation that shouldn't have got through, such as work choices, he was one of two members of cabinet that opposed it.

Palmer has paid employees in the Senate doing his bidding and whenever he gets the opportunity he has said he will get what he wants.

The GST was/is good for the Country and even the Labor Party were going to introduce it, Keating floated it well before Howard, so it was the B/S spread by him and the Labor Party that made it so unpopular and cost the Democrats there life. Put the blame where it lies.
