Speaking of ex dee rejects now playing in W.A....
"West Coast rookie Jamie Bennell was the standout AFL-listed player in the WAFL on Saturday, leading Swan Districts to a 39-point win over Claremont. Bennell had 23 possessions against the Tigers as he continues his recovery from the knee reconstruction that ended his 57-game career at Melbourne."

His knee reco didn't end his career with us. In fact it probably nearly saved it as it's poor form in the AFL community to delist a guy off a knee generally.

But I have more hope for him than Morton. When he started he was a dashing half back flanker capable of beating decent small flankers and then using the ball really cleverly.

Did any else label him the next Andrew Mcleod or was that just me? Problem was poor Jamie seem to get worse and more timid every year!

Old Dee will be pleased.

23 touches 'old dee'!

Come on guys 'don't mention the war'.

Don't go there old dee.

Every time I are the Eagles play I cringe. What a disaster our drafting and development has been.

That pretty much covers it DA!

He was terrible. Two kicks in 40 mins of play.

You have to question why these high ranking draft picks that come to mfc just don't develop into the stars like other clubs do .i.e gaff, masten, fyfe, hill

IMO, we look for the wrong types, & with the swing back to contested footy thru Roos & Lyon & Thompson, we got caught out, behind the game, yet again.

To me contested footy is the basis & the staple of Footy. & that should be a Non negotiable when recruiting. the very First thing to be looked for should be the desire to Hunt the ball & the contest.

We keep looking to hire people & players, that will satisfy the Northern wing only.

.... too many soft players,,, we have had generations of them, & we've had generations of failings.

Bennell is the only one, I reckon we could have turned about, & made into a footballer.... 50/50 ?

It is pretty depressing but I think we are finally turning the corner. It's just a very very long way back from where we've got to.

I can just faintly hear the band!

nah

benny and the jet was a big failure

also a lesson that picking mates is not smart recruiting

Now dee-luded it is time to take a rest I think the last two years has got to your powers of reasoning.

5/95 is closer.

Yes it's just an MFC thing FFS, Muston, Dowler, Thorp, Egan, Tambling, Laycock, Tenace, Trotter, Riley Dunn, Fergus Watts, Danny Meyer, Vezpremi, Oakley-Nicholls the list goes on but no keep thinking we are the only club who does this

.. no heads in the sand PSD. its the anger & fallout that is Now driving these changes at the club & will get results.

the political correctness around this Organisation, has served us All, a major dis-service.

jetta can play.... but again we've set him back rather than develop him well. but he's hanging in there & IMO, a Roos type would get the best out of a player like Nev.

The difference I think PSD is that all clubs make selections that do not make the grade.

The MFC have made an art form out of it.

We could match the above list on our ownover the last five years.

I've yelled the house down at him & at Morton from their earliest games to at least try to takle, to go in & put some pressure on. & the surrounding crowds only looked at me with disdain... & scorn.

Now, we see where things really are....

.... & to those footy dept people, that thought I was wrong & were somewhat ashamed of my yelling, You were Wrong!!! & "You" nearly drove the club of a cliff, with poor judgement & ethos.

No, all that does is do a dis-service to Our truths.. so then we look to patch things up, rather than really rebuild them.

... as Peter Jackson is doing, & as the recent board was trying to do,,, but following the recent 5 Yr rebuild,,,, the trimming & stripping back the Lists weeds, was just wrong timing. it was always bound to strike Rocks, after patience & trust had run out.

....... 'Mark Neeld' has done us a great service... he hasn't totally destroyed the soft bruise free & lazy culture,,, but he's put an almighty Crack right across it. From here the next Coach has a chance to really change the onfield & offield Culturte once & for all-time...

well i reckon jamie won as two games, one game v port darwin kicked four goals, v essendon running off half back, also he played well v sydney when we gave roos his biggest loss. how many players can say they done that at mfc.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
