My favorite moment of the game was 14:10 left in the 3rd

theres a loose ball at centre half forward and Jimmy T charges in and puts his head over the ball with no fear, takes clean possession and is rewarded with the free kick for high contact

Kicks it to Watts who gets a free then goals.

This moment told me that Jimmy T is going to be a player and that he is far from just an outside receiver some on here perceive him as.

And on a sidenote, anyone writing him off is a complete idiot, the kid had hip surgery last year and is coming off an interrupted preseason. Meaning hes never done a preseason in the AFL, and has played just 7 games.

Get a grip you morons, hes going to be an absolute gun and is a leader too.

Are you the love child of Ben Hur and Rhino Richards? A half brother to Satry?

He has a terrible gait but I am patient.

The thing about kids is that you need them to bring something to the table straight away and he has very good skills. We should have groomed him as a HBF for this year and brought him in after a few rounds to get some easier footy.

He will be a gun. Careys first games weren't great.

2nd quarter against the Saints. He was running back under a high ball with no one around him. He went back one handed thinking contact was coming. Squibbed.

I actually think he will be a jet but needs to stop these kinds of acts.

You mean the one where he was running back with the flight and was unable to get back quickly enough because the ball was kicked over his head so only stuck one arm in the air trying to get fingers to it? I don't think he "squibbed" it at all, I think he was trying to get back but the kick was so poor it looked like he dropped under the ball instead of keeping on running backwards.

Dmitri has had 2 hip operations -one on each in june and july last year. That is only a year ago.

A light preseason followed.

How odd that a year after his ops he is now starting to understand the speed if the game.

I had him rated =1 with whitfield as an U18

He was captain of ths SA U18's last year, even though they knew he was injured.

Will be a gun and a future leader.

If someone could logically explain to me why he played round 2 after his round 1 showing that'd be great.

If they could go further and explain why he was then made sub before being dropped for GWS I'd be eternally grateful. He's been poorly handled this year IMHO but the kid will be good - we just need to develop experienced leaders (or get one in) that he can learn the craft form.

I love this forum but talk about armchair experts. FFS!! People commenting on his gait, on him being a squib or not being in and under...

How many of you have played elite football?? Yep, that's what I thought.

Reminds me of one G.Lyon, could be just the hairy legs, but reckon its a bit more than that.

Ignore the morons on here.

Dane Swan doesn't have the most pleasing 'gait' either.

Most impressive signs I have seen from him yet - here is hoping

If that was the bar for conversation on here there would be tumbleweeds floating across the screen.

I don't care about his gait - but it looks terrible. I know that Campbell Brown used to run in a similar fashion and Hawthorn got a running expert to change it. He managed to get more speed as a result.

He will be a fine player - will he be the star we need? Only time answers that question.

Another of you knobs with the 'you haven't played football, so shut up' rubbish.

None of us have. FFS. Being an ex-AFL footballer is not a requirement to be able to express opinions on football.

i love the kids kicking skills, he is going to be an asset

It's refreshing to read a positive thread about Toumpas.

He played well on the weekend and continues to improve.

One of Demonlands favorites for all the right reasons, well done Jimmy.

I'd say Jimmy's awkward gait has come about from his two hip operations. He's still no doubt learning how to move with it.

Reckon he has what it takes, and then some.

Reckon he is also coming from a fair way back injury/fitness wise.

Reckon he is a kid with a level head that will fix his so called problems (and I think most of them are from being 10 years old and being expected to lead in a D grade midfield).

He's the least of our problems.

It's not a requirement to comment on here but feck me... You lot that like to pick apart every damn aspect of a 19yo kid in his first half dozen games... Questioning his courage, ability and even his running action astounds me.

If we were in the top 4 would you still be so critical?

It's not a requirement at all. So stop mentioning it.

There are plenty on here who don't know what they're talking about, including in their (at times) abhorrent comments on Toumpas, but that is nothing at all to do with whether or not they have played football before.

I really liked the Toump's game on Sat.

I was working my ass off trying to get a 'TOUMP' call going everytime he kicked it. Bloody members weren't getting on board.

He broke St Kilda's (crappy warranted) zone a few times. Jones was so wrapped to have Toump constantly getting into a good position for him.

Jonesy loves him, you can tell.

Im enjoying reading all the comments as I dont get to see many games only the televised highlights.

Did go to QB and was surprised at Toumps size as on this site he was described as small. I did think he was underutilised and thought this may have been the coach . pleased to see he shown a little more last week and I reckon he will become a very good player when he adjusts to the requirements of this level. As others are saying he is only 5 games into the business I dont expect him to dominate every game just yet.

Nothing special today from the Toumps particularly when you compare him against Jackson Macrea who was drafted after Jimmy. He looks the goods when has the ball. His next challenge is to know where to run to get the ball. We look good when he has has the ball in his hands....don't panic he will be a star!!!!

I like that Toumpas is different to most other draftees killing it atm.

Most are inside beasts, which is great, they are competitive guns mostly.

But Toumpas is more of an outside player and I haven't seen him not hit a target.

He will give us run, carry and accurate disposal going inside and outside of 50.

That is a very handy weapon to have.

Started his career being a bit soft, but careers don't just consist of a few games, thankfully.

These kids don't have it easy anyway, there is a lot of pressure on them - without even thinking of nerves, etc.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
