WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Featured Replies

I wonder if the players will be present at the press conference??

COACHING TEAM, ASSEMBLE!

2 years is a bit sucky, bit beggars can't be choosers. Hope he does 3 and more!

I wouldn't worry about the time frame, Roos at the very least will set up healthy foundations at the club.

I don't think the MFC is a 2 year job, after a couple years we'll be ready to challenge for finals and Roos will extend.

Just to make your day even better, this is a great laugh...

Finally good to see a decision, I don't have a Messiah complex about him, and think his reputation is overrated, (he won one flag when most of the competition was in rebuild mode) but he was the best out there, and there was a sustained period of finals at least, something I would like to get used to

I will wait and see what we do with the list and who he thinks are good assistants, he got it right with Lyon and Longmire (part of the reason for his success), are there any of the same calibre out there? ( I personally hope he keeps Rawlings and Brown)

You think Roos is overrated Satyr.....??

Yeah right...

Looking forward to seeing the well trotted out "culture change"

I pretty excited about this, To be honest this year, as an overseas supporter, I have dropped of the radar. Not much to hope for. Not much to tune in for.

Now I have hope.

You did not have to be overseas Rocknroll!

Good to you you guys are prompt with the Demonland banner

One of the best days since 1964,when I wasn't even born yet

Not worried at all by a 2 plus 1 option at all. He will pay for his own salary in publicity for sponsors etc, his ability to alter the culture and he will attract players who would have baulked at going to the Dees. I have no doubt we will receive a PP (not no. 1 pick) which we will be expected to trade for a ready made mid. Todd Viney had already added quality to the list last year. Lets see if he can do it again!! This will assist Roosy in his job!!

just watch the membership climb !!!

I've just looked into it...

I'm very worried.. He hasn't taken ocean Grove to a flag... ;-)

UP AND ABOUT

Do we know when they will be announcing the coaching team? When Mark Neeld was announced, did his assistants come later? I can't seem to remember. I suppose I'm trying to work out if Roosy would have already confirmed his assistants before signing.

SO STOKED. THE PILGZ IS JUST SO STOKED. I SHOOK MY DOGS I'M SO HAPPY, THEY'RE DEAD NOW BUT IT'S FINE. ROOS IS COACH.

Hi Saty glad to see you are still among us.

The big job is still to improve the playing list without that we are not going anywhere fast.

However Roos will give hope to lost supporters/ members and hopefully help acquire a new major sponsor.

If he can make us competitive in 2014 I will be happy.

Everything above that will be a bonus for me.

Yep watching the live presser now..

Pretty interesting isn't it!

Can I get some updates? At work :/

UP AND ABOUT

Oh no!

You think Roos is overrated Satyr.....??

Yeah right...

Yes I do, I have stated that before, if it was Leigh Mathews, then I would be doing cartwheels.

Roos inherited quite a healthy playing list from Eade, he had two bloody good assistants in Lyon and Longmire, a lot of the clubs were struggling, West Coast was really the only challenger, yes he changed footy by having role players, but he then got out when a rebuild was on the cards and has been away from the 'frontline' for a while......I will reserve my judgement

Can I get some updates? At work :/

Your work not have the internet?

You have time to post on here, but can't watch the presser? Tell the boss to GAGF.

Just to make your day even better, this is a great laugh...

never tire of its variations :)

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
