He took short steps yesterday. Weren't you at the game ?

I also saw him do it in the VFL in the game that was televised a few weeks back. Some of you people need to learn how to watch footy.

These courageous typists who back into online keyboards.

Pedersen is 193cms and 96kgs, Frawley is 193cms and 94 kgs.

So, does he have the "size" to play on the big power forwards?

The guy has played most of his footy as a forward, give him time to learn how to play as a defender.

I wouldn't necessarily go by what the stats sheet says - it often lists a player's height or weight incorrectly.

Pedersen is not 6"4.

I was going by what the club website said? What are you basing it on?

I doubt Pedersen is 193cms. I have stood next to him and compared to him other players, to guage his height and I was a little stunned given what we had been led to believe, that he was going to be used as a pinch hit ruckman.

To me he looks about 191 cms, but I stand to be corrected.

If we want to continue copping 100 point losses next year we should continue to play spuds.

I'd rather see us play a few "kids" who may have a future than some of these NQR players that Neeld picked up; they will do nothing to get us off the bottom.

GC was able to pass us in a couple of years with young draft picks and a few top line senior players; we have a few top line senior players and should have the top draft picks but we, of course, stuffed that part up. We will always be [censored] if we are going to rely on players that are simply not up to it.

It seems to me that we played better after the game was over, according to some on here, than we did during the game.

Might I suggest that some of you look at the game again particularly the score; we got belted.

Who are those few top line senior players you are referring to?? And I mean actual top line AFL senior players, not perceived Melbourne FC top line players?

Well I never...

Hysterical rantings from an ill-considered do-gooder.

I think Kate is best equipped to determine whether she's undermining her own self-worth, or her brand. Clearly she doesn't think so. Nor do I. I'm very happy to celebrate with her.

In future don't bore me with your asinine remarks.

Thanks for proving my point. Arrogant [censored]!

Frawley, Clark, Jones, Howe are our better players.

Garland, Dawes, Grimes are just below that.

We have players that have the potential to reach a higher level Viney, Watts, Toumpas, Trengove and Blease, so we have the basis of a side there already.

Gold Coast had a handful of senior players, including an A grader, we don't, but the balance of their side was made up of young kids.

We also have a possible top line player in Hogan coming in next year and a couple of kids like Tommy Mac, who could be anything if he gets his disposal going and Michael Evans and Max Gawn.

I think you are underestimating who Gold Coast picked up. They would have more than the 4 top line players you listed for us.

Think Ablett Jr, Brennan, Rischitelli, Nathan Bock, Campbell Brown, Jarrod Harbrow. I

However, I kind of agree that we may be better off playing the kids, if looking for the long term success. My patience has warn thin with some of the guys who've been around for a while, but I see Pederson being able to contribute, and I can't see who we should bring in to take his place. I'd like to see Dunn dropped before Pederson.

Brennan is inconsistant, Brown is just an average footballer, Bock has missed many games because of injury so I doubt they have the talent available that we have. I'd rather play Sellar that either Pederson or Dunn, at least he has a go and doesn't shirk it.

Pederson is not up to standard and as someone said earlier; if we delisted him, who would pick him up?

No one.

Weren't you at the game, indeed.

If my memory serves me correct, you said you weren't going to the game and didn't plan on going until we played better. Did you go, Fair Weather Ben? If not, you look very stupid putting attendance as a prerequisite for having footy knowledge.

I think that Pederson actually played well on the weekend. He seems to be able to play that 3rd tall defender a lot better than Jack Watts. He reads the play well and can take marks as a third man up, maybe a replacement for rivers? He seems to be able to run and carry out of the backline too and I don't think his kicking is terrible.

Some people seem to rekon he had a bad game against Lynch. Look at T.Mac... had an aweful game in defence, much worse than Pedo and whats worse is he turns the ball over regularly by foot. I think there were 2 or 3 instances where his direct turnover cost a goal almost immediately. I like T.Mac and he seems to try hard, but he really has to improve on his disposal or understand his limitations before he can become better.

I thought you were really looking forward to that game of golf though, BH.

It probably would have been a more pleasant way to spend the arvo.

Brennan is inconsistent, but is no less accomplished than Howe at this moment. In fact he has proven more at senior level than Howe. Bock has been injured quite regularly, so has Clark. Brown is a premiership player and a proven performer. He may not be elite, but he's an important player for any club.

As for the next tier of players. It could be argued that Swallow, O'Meara, Lynch, Bennel, Prestia, McKenzie, Dixon etc are at the same level as Grimes, Dawes and Garland.

I don't disagree that we have some talent on our list, but we do not have anywhere near the depth of talent as the Suns. Remember they also brought in players like Warnock, Stanley, Murphy, Broughton all to provide more experienced bodies to help support their younger players. If you look at our recruitment of players since 2011, it is a similar approach to the expansion teams. Get some young talent, and get some older bodies to help them along the way. Yet GC is lauded for their strategy while we are dragged over the coals for applying that same approach.

Pedersen helps provide our younger players time to develop, and has some skills and abilities that we need. He could be the perfect swingman for the club as he has shown an ability to play forward and back. I wish we didn't have to part with Gysberts, who could have still shown something, but with Viney, Toumpas, Kent, M Jones coming in, I doubt Gysberts would have been top 22 anyway.

they also have a blank canvas culture around the Club, where they can build the Club from new, without pretenses & political factions of the MCG wannabees.

so they can develop their kids without distractions.. & good leadership.

we are fighting the competition, plus our own factions from within. no wonder the players struggle to develop. the 'G' is too distracting. we should only play there gameday.

Like Sellar, Pedersen has positional versatility because he is bad at both, not because of any other reason. I bet you'd find Mitch Clark would be a better defender than Pedersen.

My problem with Pedersen is that he's physically limited - he's slow, I don't think overly fit and he's short. I can live with that if he had gun footy skills but he doesn't. Lynch had 5 shots on goal on him on Monday. That is not acceptable.

Also he provided a very disparaging incident early in the game. Cloke led backwards on Garland and Lynch let out for the same footy then stopped his lead to let Cloke mark. Pedersen then came off Lynch only to not go for Cloke with a proper hard body spoil. Now you could say he didn't want to give away 50 but from where I saw it he had more than enough time to get to Cloke and to make a statement about our intent. Instead he ran idly past and Cloke ended up slotting the goal anyway.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
