On a happier note Jack Viney popped in to the Miller Room function today and said he will be taking the Moon Boot off permanently from tomorrow.

McLardy also stopped by for a few minutes and said they will be announcing some major announcements tomorrow.

He sounded a little tired to me and I reckon he's over it; don't be surprised if he steps down and Geoff Freeman takes over as President.

Speaking of tired, it appeared to me that just before 3 quarter time the players looked stuffed and they just don't seem fit enough, Watts in particular seemed to be struggling.

Evans has all of that. He's a well rounded players who just needs time. The problem is more that we invested top draw picks in Maric, Blease, Strauss, Tapscott, Gysberts, Bennell - even if those guys made it to their full potential they aren't well rounded midfielders.

Evans is a nice footballer, buts he's just a VFL footballer.

Kicking is ok, one-paced, not a big body, not soft but not aggressive or intimidating.

Sadly, he's still a better player than Trengove and McKenzie.

Is that the Brad Miller room?

Kicked a nice 50m goal on his left foot from the boundary. I'd call that more than OK....

Pretty much saying what we all have been hearing in the media..

Clarks recruitment has been an absolute failure , I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for his miraculous return, the guy never plays.

Jack is looking real shaky! If everybody was totally honest he does not deserve his place in the team. That's where it's at!

You do know he averages about 6.5 tackles a game this year? He also averages 17 possies.... after coming off no pre-season... and foot problems? I think he does deserve a place in the team.

So if what you say is correct about Mclardy, Neeld wont be sacked tommorrow. I doubt a president would go around telling of changes if a coach was about to become sacked.

You are right, they should have known he would get a freak foot injury after starring early in the season.

One of the biggest reasons why the pressure has been building externally is the efforts of the players – they haven't been up to standard," Dawes said.

"It's the nature of footy that the media and supporters start asking questions of the head coach, but anybody with a football brain and anybody within the club can see that it's a mess that the players have gotten us into.

"We're starting to take responsibility for that now. Tonight was one of the first steps."

Dawes just summed up everything there for me.

Yep and it might just be coming too late to save this coach if the rumors are true. I'd love tomorrow to be our 'line in the sand' day. Either move the coach on or commit to him for at least the rest of the year, but behind closed doors find out which players are dead against the move and they can remove the jumper right now and take a paid holiday for the rest of the year. The players at this club who have been playing politics during the last 5 or so years may well end up with the blood of a 150 year old football club on their hands if things don't improve soon.

I'd love to see a serious show of support from the players. Maybe show up at the board meeting to back him up if they're all as happy with him as they say.

If the players want to back Neeld they have to start winning the contested ball and running for team mates.

It may be too late by tonight. This Neeld love was expected in Round one 2013.

I ticked the "Like this" button - in fact I am starting to like just about everything Dawes says. Sounds very intelligent, honest and very realistic, and a genuine leader.

Only lost by 6 today. Not bad against the Hawks.

Edit: Correction, that was clearances.

While Fitz didn't have a great game and looked clumsy at times, he had a crack, got into good position, and if he held a few marks and kicked with better composure, could have had 2 or 3 goals. And he's quick. Jamar got more taps but did NOTHING but drop them to his feet. 2 weeks in a row Jamar barely troubled the stats people. I'd like to see Max and Fitz given a run of games together.

That was pretty clear from the start, never had the power or pace to really have an impact on games.

Trengrove doesnt need pace to have impact. Look at Watson, Selwood. I wouldnt say they are pacey.

I seen enough early in his career to back Jack in. Remember some of those marks he would take inside 50.

I'll back him in to come good, hes still young.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
