Billings would be my number one pick, sorta bloke who can kick long and accurate would be a great asset kicking to our talls, very good player

crouch or dunstan if we get a priority, both are hard at it physical midfielders, Crouch is a ball magnet and clearance machine.

Aish, Kelly, Dunstan, Billings in that order for me based on what I think we need and how I rate them based on last years showing. Boyd and Sharenberg looked good but we must be targeting quality mids.

We have a new head of recruiting and a from what I understand, a beefed up recruiting department. We can't get worst than the BP years.

Three target areas. Foot skills, decision making and contested ball winners.

Lets do it.

As we should have done for the last 5 years, lets do our due diligence right across the board, be completely certain....then pick the other bloke. It might be more successful.

What picks could we realistically hope to get, assuming we don't win a heap more games this year, a priority of 2 and 3 or something?

26, I'm thinking that we may be able to garnish additional assistance under some "they really are crap" arrangement that I've heard vague things about. Then again, are the Bulldogs eligible as well? I thought they were stitched up re Callum Ward compo. Someone here will know.

I thought this thread would have started after rd 2 given our performances.

Draft pick talk has started a bit later this season!

O the dream of not talking about draft picks until after the season ENDS.

Billy Hartung? Anyone know about him beyond the article?

Given outr track record with top 10 draft picks maybe we look at what established mid fielders there are available next year that we could trade for!

Why do people harp on about drafting contested ball winners when it's one area we dont have an issue in?

IMO being able to get contested ball should be non-negotiable, but we need players who can do that AND provide run.

My gut feeling is get Billings and/ or Aish. But it's based on small reports and youtube vid of an international series.

As long as they are ready to go and not wafer thin (think cake Morton) I will be happy.

Hopefully the NEW coach will know how to develop players and use the WIN word.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
