Dion Prestia Trade Link

Featured Replies

We are in a position to throw a lot of money his way.

Slot him in the midfield in place of McKenzie, Rodan or any other spud and our midfield starts to look better:

Jones, Viney, Prestia

Later Toumpas, Taggert and Pick 1 or 2

He has clear ties to the club so I wouldn't rule out a situation like the West Coast/Port Ebert.

It's less likely but given the hole we're in but I think we have a truck load more salary cap space than GCS (trying to hold on to all that talent)

We need to play the woe is me card (that's how bad we have gotten). You play to his heart.

Tell him we need his help (which we clearly do), we have good cash to give him, and remind him how good it would feel (given he's a big Dees fan) if he is there to help the club turn around.

That's all we can do. Try to remove logic out of the equation, because if that's what he goes by, we have no chance.

I would absolutely love to see Prestia in the red and the blue next year.

If we can get two or three really good mids at the end of this year (and keep all of our required players), I reckon we can bounce faster than many people think. That said, Neeld's 5 year prediction is a concern - a really stupid thing to say publicly too.

Our bookends are solid. And we have some X factor across the list which should come into play a little more once we can actually consistently win, and then maintain, possession - eg, Howe, Sylvia, Blease.

I would really like to know what the morale of the players is. Speaking to a Geelong player a couple of years ago, he said that many of the senior players had lost all respect for Bomber Thompson for non coaching reasons - essentially his own wayward conduct off the field, which they found hypocritical given the standards he required of them. Yet, they were smashing it on the field.

It is possible that, despite the pathetic performances, the current list is united, determined to succeed and behind Neeld. To be fair, I have absolutely no idea whether it is or not - I'm just saying results alone don't necessarily make for a happy and cohesive list, and are not solely determinative of the level of support for a coach.

Yep trading the captain would be really great for the culture that we desperately need to fix!!

Trengove is not a leader and will not be captain next year

Harsh comment.

Being put in a position of captain of a struggling team at a young age and finding the going tough, doesn't define him as 'not a leader'. Not his fault the entire squad voted him in for his leadership.

Jack Watts for Prestia?

Won't happen. Why is watts a required player? Where does he fit? As a fourth or fifth tall in the forward half or a spare man? He has currency and without a midfield the rest is a waste. If we could trade him for a quality mid id jump at the chance.

btw prestia is a dream!

Nope - Watts is a required player. Get Prestia for some other deal - PSD would be perfect.

... the way Prestia is talking, he is fairly happy there, so we'll have too Win his Sig', or it won't happen.

I accept that. PSD comment was just tongue in cheek - there's no way known that'd ever happen.

... whatever we do, it has to be Quick,,,,, because he is on the cusp apparently, of re-signing with the Suns.

Watts shouldn't be a required player. He could command a bit of value.

If you offered me Prestia for Watts I would take it every single day of the week.

nuh !

Yes, but if you asked Adelaide supporters if they'd trade Dangerfield for Ablett, they'd also take it every day of the week. That doesn't mean that Dangerfield isn't a required player.

Prestia is better than Watts, but that doesn't mean losing Watts to get him is a good idea.

Each to their own, but I think tough quality mids are for more "required"

Watts for Prestia and i'll throw in my left nut too!

Was never going to happen.

Inside scoop was that he considered coming back to Melbourne, and his family pushed him to go to the Dees, but he wasn't keen on coming to a club that is about where the Suns were in their first year. That said even if Melbourne were flying he wouldn't have come back. Been through too many big losses in his first two years to just pack up and leave just as the team starts playing good footy.

It's damning enough that fans resent you and the media hound you, but to have other AFL players acknowledging how bad you are, that's quite telling.
