Good thing you are comparing apples with apples.

Selwood is a class above Jones as a player but the difference is not reflected in the win-loss difference. If Selwood had come to MFC he would have experienced a similar loss rate and if Jones had gone to Geelong he would have experienced a similar win rate.

Yeah you have to feel for all the loyal players of the club in the last 7 years.

Definitely won't be seeing success for sometime.

Jones in 24-25 not 100% sure, played 140 games, our best player

really greatful to have him looking at this, he could play 300 games for our club and go down as a great by the end of his career

hopefully in the next 140 he plays some finals

Disappointing for Jones.

I agree Selwood is a classy and tough player, but I think that it would be unfair to play down how good Jones is so easily. If he were in a top team like Geelong there would not be as much focus on tagging him as what he currently gets.

I agree it sure must be character building for Jones, and yet he still gives his all and has somehow managed to continue to develop.

I really admire that.

I feel sorry for Jones because he gets his head belted every week by the opposition and rarely gets paid a free kick for it.

His playing career will hopefully balance out in the next few years; if it doesn't with Melbourne, it's probably because we no longer exist.

I'm a NJ fan and he works his guts out for this club, However if Jonesy and JT and the others want to play finals during their careers with the MFC, THEN FFS get your collective poo together and pull your finger out and play a brand of football that we all will respect.

if jones stays he will never play finals. mfc wont see finals in his playing time. sad but probaly true

I disagree... give Jones the captaincy and he will lead us (by example) into finals contention. I get the feeling that he commands respect from the entire playing group and that he has a quality that the two Jacks are lacking in at the moment... he is an inspirational footballer. Name another player in our side who is regularly talked up in a positive way by the media... I can't think of one.

I have said it before and will say it again... Nathan for capt with Grimes as his deputy.

Jones is the exact type of person that clubs want to draft - he's loyal and driven to get the best out of himself. He strikes me as the type of bloke that would turn down offers from rival clubs because he's a loyal bloke. He plays like he is loyal to the club too, regardless of who is coaching

If we have a heart and soul right now, it's Nathan Jones (and us diehard supporters, of course!).

Edit: added the bit in brackets.

Do you know it is actually bloody disgustting that a topic about the one player who can be relied on to give his all every single week, still has posts [censored] on the Club, I sometimes wonder what the posters are missing in their life?

I agree with this, Nate gives every once of his being for every second he is on the ground.

Show some respect, there are a million other threads to bag others and the club.

Do you think putting a C next to Jones name will make him a better leader than he currently is. Can you not be a leader without having a C next to your name.

Will Jones be a better leader being capt?

Is Grimes and JT becoming better leader by having the captaincy?

Would you begrudge him if he leaves the club?

If we are like this at the end of 2015, nope not one bit and I'd applaud every possession he got against us.

He would fit in with any of the top AFL teams.

I know that this is a sort of blend of a number of topics, so apologies to anyone offended.

I thought about this last night, and I know this is fanciful - If a new coach came in and sat Grimes and Trengrove down and said "listen fellas, become vice captains, but I want you two to not have the added stress but work on improving yourselves on the field instead". Then gave the Captainancy to Jones.

1. Would Grimes and Trengrove play better and fulfill their potential faster. And,

2. Do you think it would affect Jonesy's current game/attitude?

Yeah, i feel sorry for him too.
Male Pattern Baldness is a tough thing for men to go through, and Nath had to deal with it at such a young age too.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you Nathan Jones!
We at Demonland will always support you, hair or no hair!

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
