Not often I can say we have a the better of the umps, but so far is one such day.

Watts is poor, but he does seem to have a limp in his running gate. Doesn't excuse soft efforts when not running though.

We looked out on our feet early in the 2nd qtr. If we do not get another wind we will get cut up by plenty in the 2nd half.

Any chance we can get a bit of handball receive, and link up through the middle as well. I think they are susceptible there, but we dont seem to have the players capable. Or maybe it's just not part of our game plan.

I'm not watching with any glasses, unlike you with you're typical Watts hating goggles.

He's the ONLY ONE trying to chase hard when Brisbane are going forward.

No - you're wrong again and on both counts -

1. I don't hate Watts, he's just not a very good footballer

2. No he's not - watch Terlich

(oh, and 3: "your")

Thats because we are both paying appalling football.

So? That doesn't excuse constant belittling of both teams.

It's been horrible. Constant talking down of both teams and anything decent they do is viewed as surprising. Matthews is the worst offender. Condescending [censored].

When I started reading your comment, I thought you were talking about this thread ;-)

What about midfielders? NONE ARE CHASING.

Don't crucify the one guy (aside from Terlich if you insist) that is at least trying to chase.

We're being cut up through the midfield because two of our least fit guys have been brought into the team and stuck directly in the midfield. Sam Blease and David Rodan have contributed nothing defensively and do not deserve to be in the side. I thought we should have brought in Dan Nicholson instead of Rodan, and this performance has certainly done nothing to alter that view.

We're being beaten statistically just about everywhere but this is actually the closest we've been to anyone this season at half time. Closer than last week. Now we just have to hope that the Lions have buggered themselves out with all that effort in the first half and bob's yer uncle!

Expecting us to get put to the sword in this third quarter. All the stats are pointing that way.

Prove us wrong Dees.

Well, we're in striking distance thanks to their wastefulness.

Need to come out after half time and kick the first 2 goals. The game is up for grabs and the Lions are not very good.

Our 3rd quarters have been woeful so hopefully the coaching staff will try something different - like a good old rev up speech - anything to get the players motivated after half time.

The first 5 minutes will tell a tale.

Jack Watts is running himself lame and you blokes are sniping him left and right. Get a grip all of you!

I know Trenners tackles a lot but I'm pretty worried about him as a player. He looks like a handy bit part player but nothing more.

He seems painfully slow which is a huge concern.

I can't believe Neeld can't stop their run through the middle, it's happening every time.

our lack of defensive composure due to a couple of players lazyness/confidence, is causing our whole group to drop their energy levels, & Run thru the middle of the ground. This in turn is stopping us to run to present & to defend.

our forward zone is Ok,,,, but the of wattage energy in our backline is a pain in the butt. its undermining the whole teams mojo.

we need to switch the defenders around (frawls & macdonald), put grimes back to halfback for today & move watts to the F/pocket, as a free runner, playing high linking the mids & forwards.

We're in this! Yes I am surprised.

I agree with the general feeling here, Rodan looks a mile off. Kent just presents as the obvious option or am I missing something.

I love Jordie but the: grab ball - stick under arm - duck tackle (existent or not) is getting a little tiring.

Just the speed and movement of Evans and to an extent M. Jones was really noticeable in the first quarter. We also need to shut Beamer down as others are suggesting.

Carn Dees!

Not able to chase like someone who has a 2.85 20m time

there ya go, watts has gone forward, but I'm mnot sure about the role they've given him... I'd play him as an roving medium forward & I'd move howe onto the wing with grimes at half back.

Spot on. Watts bashers say they want effort, but they refuse to recognize it.

Leunberger uncontested mark.

camera pans out to reveal 3 demons standing on their own in the 50.

Brisbane looked a little tired at half time. Here's hoping anyway.

We look more tired than them. Could get ugly...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
