What decent opposition players are uncontracted from other clubs come seasons end???

Satyriconhome. Our footy department has already decided we need experience thus what they have already done. Pointing out why players would not want to come to us in my view is also legitimate. I am not I want it and I want it now, but I do see the benefit of bringing in players who can set good examples. They may not be the best players in the world, but they add something, which is why I disagreed with the decision to cut junior. In my view this was merely a thread kicking around a few ideas. As you rightly point out we don't know who we will cut, or who may emerge during the rest of the season so needs change, nor do we know who will be available at seasons end, injuries and all sorts of things are other variables.

Having said all that I really don't see the problem in talking about it. You like to debate, thats fine, you have your views, thats fine, but I'm not sure that you should be teling people what they can and cannot talk about. That is the role of the mods.

I am not telling people what they can and can't talk about, I am merely expressing my opinion that it is a complete and utter waste of time, and opens the door for MFC bashing, that's all I have put on this thread, my opinion, if people read it fine, if they don't fine, dont't really care either way.......only things I care about at the moment re footy are two.........hoping we have a win on Sunday and hoping we get out of this funk we are in.

I tend to post mainly to engage the more combative keyboard warriors and the posters who post "we are crap" and nothing else, in the hope that the lazy journalists who use this site for story ideas get a balanced view, not that they will present a balanced view, but that is my jaundiced view of modern 'journalism/editorialising' surfacing

That is the irony here. You suggested people get one post to vent after a game, or Mondays along those lines in another thread. Yet you vent against the people venting lol. You just wrote that journos will not present a balanced view so you are merely justifying your actions there. Football is an emotional game and when you couple that with the internet you do get some irrationality. I'm not immune to it neither are you.

Like it. But not the experienced leader that we need in the midfield. Thomas from the pies IMO would be a good fit.

My overall point is to pick class mids and the small forward role will take care of itself.

I definitely agree that mids are way more important for us than small forwards at this stage.

My suggestion for the one topic one post was because it is a necessary evil on this board, rather than each topic being hijacked. as I have said previously, even this thread has had a few attempts to hijack it, I would rather it was over quickly than last the whole week from one game to the next, sadly I can't stop the venters venting, I just stop reading their posts.....so you are doing what I think the modern journalist does and you have misrepresented me

Journalists these days, and this is my opinion, are only interested in how much they can increase or maintain the circulation or how much internet revenue they can generate, and bad news works so much better than good, like I said in a previous post that is why reality tv is still a hit, people love watching a 'kill' contrived or not, sad but true

My actions on this board are repeat to try and give another opinion to counter the posters whose soul aim in their posts is to bash the Club, if you don't like what I write, quite simple don't read it

How do you do what you profess to do if you put people on ignore. Just think about that for a sec.

I eventually give up on the recidivists if that is what you mean, wasting my time and effor, they never post anything new just the same thing over and over again, there is sadly always a replacement ready to take their place, egged on by the former of course

Peeps, I am afraid you couldn't entice a rat with a gigantic chunk of Cheddar to come to our club at the moment.

Likewise you couldn't attract a super, semi decent, ok, hack footballer to our club with a red ferrari, 17 virgins and $10 million in a swedish bank account.

But they could be Journos.

I don't totally agree as money does talk, but I did chuckle.

Dawes and clark were convinced to come here, we have cap room and there are plenty of money hungry players out there.

Oh look an attempt at humour, how refreshing, they won't be because they will have already moved on the the next topic, you even know that.

What humour they could be? You can't fight the good fight if you aren't engaging, but you could be right Journos never rehash stories.

Fighting the good fight is ringing around trying to get members on board Monday and Tuesday night.

Here is engaging in a battle of wits with unarmed men(persons)

Of course Journos rehash stories but they just plagiarise with a few changes out of their library of non stories

And I admire the fact you give time to the club. As you like to point out about yourself, you don't know what other posters have done for the club or still do. Obviously someone of your intelligence would find things a bit frustrating, but I urge patience.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
