What happens if we lose to GWS?

This has been our problem for the last 7 LONG yrs Jumbo.

Exactly.

We've kept stats on our training indicators for the last two years and this is pathetic.

Mission came over with stats from top teams and we were so far under the top teams, it was disgraceful.

More science in our development and players need to accept responsibility for that.

Keep on counting DemonOx. we have never liked to work hard physically... its just showing up more in the modern game.. remember Robbo & his mates, they wouldn't chase down a Fire Hydrant, & the rest wouldn't tackle,, or workout in the Gym in a pink fit.

it's more than the past 7 Yrs my friend.

What a fark stick.

I first read that as "fart stick" - I was about to award you with the prize of "best new insult".

As for what happens if we lose to GWS? Nothing. We're a worse side than they are, so it would simply just be meeting my expectations.

I was being kind DL. Coaching the Dees is like turning the Titanic, very very slow progress!!!

Nasher from what your saying you agree we are a worse side than GWS but do you feel we should do nothing with Neeld or should we replace him.

We seem to have a really bad track record of developing our draft picks into top line players and I am worried of the decisions being made

Ever thought our draft picks are not the players the selection committee thought they were??

I'm of the view that Neeld needs to be shown the door immediately before this group's confidence and ability to turn it around is destroyed completely, if it's not already. I didn't think it was possible to feel more hopeless than I did in 2008, but zing! Here it is.

No. I've never thought that. You know why? Because all of them (with the exception of Cook) were taken exactly where they were supposed to in their respective drafts. I doubt that all clubs got them wrong and we are the only ones that drafted those players. That's not bad luck. It's statistically impossible.

So your going to tell me that Watts, Sylvia, Morton, Gysberts etc, weren't highly rated players by other clubs when drafted to us?

Absolute rubbish yourself mate. We have the worst development in the history of the league. But feel free to defend it. The players will do their best to prove me right.

Watts - enough said.

Sylvia, poor pick in a poor draft year.

Morton over Dangerfield, Masten, Rioli

Gysberts over Talia, Lewis Jetta, Fyfe.

Our recruiting team couldn't pick its nose.

There's only one common denominator in all those players taken first mate. Like I said, it is statistically impossible that they are all not good players and opposition clubs have said as much with their disgust at the idea we'd be given priority picks.

If we lose, he goes.

Would these results be acceptable at ANY OTHER CLUB? No. He'd be out on the dole queue faster than you could say 'It's a Grand Old Flag'.

Be aware that this is one of the worst starts that ANY team has had in VFL/AFL history - and needs to be regarded in such a light.

Spuds, all of them.

BP, DB, the recruiting managers need to be held accountable for their picks and lacking in due diligence.

Why are you shouting? And in regards to your second point, well, who isn't aware! you're like the bloke in Dad's Army who runs around yelling 'we're doomed, we're doomed'? No sh#t Sherlock. Edited by Return to Glory

Today made it patently obvious to me just how poorly coached our players have been.

- Colin Garland's constant indecision about when to go towards the ball and when to peel back is just ridiculous. This should have been picked up by the coaches and gotten out of his game 3 years ago. It would have been identified and resolved at other clubs.

- Our entire backline (and most of our midfield for that matter) seem to think they should never move towards the ball until after their opponents have. What's wrong with attacking it and taking the mark yourself instead of giving up prime position and waiting back?? Once again, needs to be corrected by the coaches.

- Tom McDonald (although I thought he was good today) gave up a mark in the goal square to Darling where McDonald had the front position and and managed to give it up without laying a finger on Darling. Who the fark is coaching these guys?? His hand should have been back feeling for his opponent so he had some idea of where he was going to come from. How can we keep making these mistakes every single week??

- It's also the coaches jobs to ensure the team is mentally prepared to compete for 4 quarters. The excuse about how good the Eagles midfield was is complete rubbish. The 3rd quarter was embarrassing and non competitive. How the fark can we have so many less tackles than WCE and so much less of the ball. That is 100% a mindset issue and something good coaching would sort out!

I don't buy into the talk of our list being the crappest going around. By expanding the league to 18 teams the result is that every club in the AFL carries some relatively average players in their 22 each week. Other clubs teach these players how to fulfill their roles and we simply don't.

I agreed with Neeld's demands on the players when he arrived, but I am concerned that perhaps he didn't approach it the right way with the individuals themselves. Despite our 'Football University' approach there doesn't seem to be too many players that are improving greatly. The line coaches also need to take responsibility for the lack of progress in all 3 areas of the ground.

Good coaching would see this group competitive quickly enough. I am getting concerned that if we continue like this, we will see a max exodus of good players at the end of the year (including Frawley although he doesn't seem to give a $hit anymore anyway) which will make it that much harder for a new coach.

Because Morton, Scully and Gysberts are all doing so much better at their new clubs ...

The point isn't where they are at now, it's that it is STATISTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE that the MFC would be the only club to consistently draft duds. I obviously think its 80% development, 20% bad picks. Who are they learning from? Whose setting the standards? Who do the have to be that much better than to get a game?

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
