Great support for the boys at training today. Collingwood are gone from Gosch's. It was a busy morning with The Dees, The Storm and The Victory all training at the same time and a great turn out of supporters to give the boys a boost. Get there tomorrow if you can. Who cares if they get beaten. They are still our team.

Well done six6six - I knew your comeback would come sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, your pictures can chronicle some more happy times for the club soon.

Nice work six.

What are you shooting on and what lens you using for those? Looks great.

Thanks thbt,

I'm a Canon man. I have a couple of cameras but these were mainly taken with a 7D and Canon 70-300 mm f4-5.6 lens. A few of the really long shots across to the far side of the ground were with a Sigma 50-500 f4.5-6.3 lens

Nice!

I have a 7d at home and a couple of 5d's (mk 2 & 3) I use for work (video stuff).

Looking at getting a long lens for still stuff as all my lenses are short and fast. On a crop sensor do you find yourself using the length beyond the canons 300mm? I'd like to do more sports and wildlife stuff on my 7d.

Gosch's paddock was an unofficial name give to that place but eventually stuck, given it is now ours I feel a rename is in order. Perhaps Barassi Oval?

What about Stynes' Green?

I think anything that's "Melbourne" would be great, the Stynes name would obviously carry a lot of emotion to it.

thbt,

Because the players are in all parts of the ground I use the full range of focal length from 50 through to 300. Because it is a compact lens, it is better suited to hand held. The Sigma is pretty big and generally needs a monopod to get steady shots. My other body is a 5D Mk3. I normally only use this with my faster prime lenses.

Leave it at Gosch's Paddock. There's history ... William Henry Gosch leased the land from the Melbourne City Council in the 1870s as a holding area for his local transport company's horses.

A fan-tastic Idea & turnout to help the lads... It may be a help to turn a corner.

I was glad to see & read about the encouragement for the boys, Unfortunately I couldn't make the trip down to Melbourne, having building work done.

good luck to the boys today, & Go-Dees

No lets leave the Heritage angle, but let us Build an Office & Social Hub next door to AAAMI Park & adjoining that Medical centre...

... we could call it the RedLegs centre by Gosch.

this is the Edwin Flack Field on which AAMI Park is built.

edwin-flack-field-jan-2006.jpg

... notice the top right hand corner of the picture, there is a structure. If we built our home base just Nth-East of that structure we could have an Office & Social Hub right there on Olympic Boulevard within easy distance of the 'G'.

... and it would overlook the training fields we could develop just off Olympic Boulevard, & a little away from the petrol fumes of Punt Rd. But right next to the Public Transport of Trams & Trains.

For the past couple of years we've had a B grade training oval, and we've performed accordingly.

Here's hoping some of the success the smelly pies have had whilst training at Goschs paddock rubs onto us.....

Ps. And the Pies new oval riddles them with injuries....I'm not bitter, seriously I'm not ;)

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
