Our board is stacked with top quality successful people.

I don't see how replacing McLardy with someone similar makes no difference to me.

I see McLardy only growing with the tribulations we are suffering as long as he gets united support.

What we need is consistent and quality football advice to the board. If we can combine that with continued financial success and growth of the club we will get somewhere.

Pretty much the role of the board should be to keep making money and learn to spend it wisely. Our board can do the first of that, I'm not sure they can do the second part.

He's a dees fan at heart, as is his whole family. I don't see why a change is needed, unless he wants out.

Not for President at this stage, but he is there to smooth over the issues with the cashed up supporters.

If you are thinking that "us run of the mill" supporters even get a moment of consideration, then wake up.

When it was mentioned that Schwab polarised the supporters. IT WASN"T US.

Its all fine being in the background ( to date ) but he will have to maintain "the rage" even more should he become the annointed one.

One of the reasons that Stynes was a huge success when he came on board was that he knew football and football clubs.

Football clubs are a completely different beast to other businesses and industries so being good at one doesn't always translate to the other.

Comments like playing in the finals within x years is just plain stupid . Nowadays anything you say will be held against you. If he comes president and we dont make the finals in 3 years this will be rehashed .

Are people so afraid of making statements on what they believe or think because of the fear of being wrong or chastised? I don't really care if the comments are rehashed, IMO it's part of the reason the club is in the position they are in because the club hasn't been able to be held to account. The board under Stynes said they would be transparent, however as soon as something went wrong they went into damage control & were unaccountable. The club should be bold & state the direction they want to take if they genuinely believe it is reality & want supporters to sign up. The club needs leaders with a vision so that members can hope & believe again. 2 - 3 years to play finals is not far from reality provided the club sorts it self out off the field & finds a very good coach as Jackson said. The building blocks of the list are there & provided they find 3-4 very good midfielders in that period of time as well as a couple of small forwards why can't the club play finals?

When Neeld took over we had 8 wins with a poor defensive game. The club should have progressed in the last 18 months but went backwards. I'm with Freeman that it is attainable to play finals if the right people are in place off the field starting from now.

You have to wonder why he came onto the board at all and who invited him considering the existing board is on the nose and the key players have either left or are about to exit stage left.

Maybe to sure up the old boys club and make sure it's not a completely AFL "preferenced" board. The few old boys left within can then slowly work towards garnering another new "Old Boys" Board within a few years after the AFL has handed over the dough.

An internal takeback once the AFL's gaze and focus turns elsewhere. SWEEET! Back to more of what we've had at the cozy MFC.

I don't see th hilarity in telling nefarious stories with no fact but what you think are fact.

He was added earlier in the year - he will have to address why he came on the Board himself. He certainly isn't responsible for the failures of this Board.

Any new Demons of influence that have come forward and are willing to get involved are welcome to go to the club and discuss what they can do. Whether that is Freeman, or the former players pushing Kelaher or Fowles from the MCC.

I am not going to question their motives if all they have done is go to the club and ask how they can help.

We need blokes with a strong vision like this. Nothing wrong with goals even if a bit ambitious. Problem with Neeld was he was too much of a realist, ie. accepting things as they are. How much did he focus on current reality, ie. "we have the most inexperienced list, etc". Focus on what we want to become not what we are!!!

Also becoming "the hardest team to play against" isn't the same as becoming "a side that plays finals in 2-3 years". Being the hardest team to play against won't gaurantee success. If you wan't to be a successful club you should aim for what you really want: to win finals. The "how" will follow, and that may not mean being the best defensive side. For Melbourne and it's current crop that may mean becoming the best offensive side in the game. Something we were on the way to becoming under Bailey.
