Great op wizza. I was thinking along similar lines after I watched neeld and grimes interviews post game. The look of despondency and stress was actually really hard to watch.

We are all hurting right now but rather than condemn the club, players and coaches we need to support them in the darkest hour.

I admire this thread and the views in it. I get the anger and why people are threatening to tear up memberships etc. But that is a weak response. You don't just give up on something or someone that is important to you when it all falls apart.

Who is up for the fight and who will fail?

I reckon generation dee's quote sums it up best. Adversity has smashed us right between the eyes. It is up to all of us to respond.

I think it imperitive that we get former greats along to training this week as well. I'd like to start with the three that appear on my avatar. Just need to know when and where and I will make it my business to invite them.

Apart from 'Flower' they're all getting on a bit now. Not sure if a bunch of 70+'s are going to be able to generate to much.

What did Barassi do in that incident? He sent a message that (his)society would not meekly stand by and allow a woman to be victimised. He stood up and made a statement. I guess that is how he played his football. We can't ask our young men to stand up if we aren't prepared to make a stand on their behalf.

It's not like we're being asked to fork out another $1000. All we are being asked to do is park the car, walk over to the training facility, gather together and have a united voice in support. We're just saying "we're here to help you get through this"... more importantly we are making a statement to the wider AFL fraternity, "We will never quit!" How often do you get the opportunity to make that statement in a public way?

Unity can only come around with leadership, strong leadership. And that starts at the top. The President, board, CEO and coach.

The Schwab debacle is an ongoing stigma against the current, largely unchanged, board.

And, Irrelevant of whether our CEO is capable of such leadership, has the post 186 incident compromised his ability to truly show strong leadership?

And as far as the coach goes, I believe the players performance is a fair reflection of his strong, or lack there of, leadership.

So the answer really is, who is going to step up or step down?

I had some BS work drama pop up last week so couldn't go to Fridays session, but the players need confidence and to feel like its worth it.

If we can get 200 people to commit to going we can also get the press there to report on a positive story - real genuine supporters doing what they can to stick by the club.

And this is regardless of how some feel about the admin or the player development. The fact of the matter is that the club needs somone to defend it and in 10 years time we'll be the ones left with it, long after the players have retired and the coaches and admin moved on.

The obvious answer is all of the above, but a the very least one of the above needs to step up. The person who would make the most immediate impact is the coach, but he seems somewhat disillusioned and shell shocked. Is he capable?

Didn't get any smart comments (But I'm 6'3 and 120 kilos so not surprised) but I shot another score under 105 (yes I know I'm not very good) but the old bloke in the pro shop is Essendon and he said he felt sorry for us supporters.

Here's a chance to give something back to a club that has been copping it from all sides for six months. We were made the scapegoats for the practice of extracting the most desirable draft picks from a disappointing season. We have been crucified by media knobs who have vested interests. Melbourne people have been under attack so often from far and wide that it has become a sport. Last night I sat beside four opposition supporters who spent the whole evening ridiculing Melbourne players. Their key targets were Watts, Davey and Clark. When Davey snapped his first goal I jumped up and got right in their faces. But I did it with a smile on my dial and they weren't too sure of how to respond. When Davey kicked his second, miraculous, goal I jumped up again and gave them more of the same. I told them that it would only get worse every time he goaled. Davey didn't snag another, but you know what? They stopped bagging Davey from that point on. Sometimes you have to stand up and support your own!
