This is it. Mark Neeld must get results this year. He knows it, we know it.

Second year of a three year deal, this will be the year that shapes him.

The level of result is up for debate.

But winning Quarters here and there or the odd stat count won't cut it for me anymore.

It is about the amount of times the ball goes through the big sticks.

Simple.

A big year for a lot of players on our list too, with Watts, Sylvia (UFA), Davey (RFA), Grimes, Taggert, Gawn, Tynan, Fitzpatrick, Nicholson, Evans, MacDonald, Sellar, Jetta, Davis, Couch, Magner, Rodan, Gillies, Clisby, and Stark all out of contract. Watts, Sylvia, Davey, Grimes and Jetta all need to step up a gear in 2013; they've far from reached their potential. Taggert, Gawn and Tynan need to show something and aim for substantial game time in the firsts. I'm looking forward to 2013...bring it on!

yes it is time for a lot of players and employees for that matter to take the big jump and see if the thrive or not.

The talking has gone on since 2007....

What an original thread....
Sorry Stuie, but it is now actually 2013. The second year of our coach. It was always going to be pivitol in his tenure.

If 2013 is a good one for Neeld his career should be long.

Back to sleep for a few more days Stuie...:)

It's the year of the Snake as of early February, and if we disect Neeld, we can find an eel (snake like) finally breaking out of the clutches of ND - a portent perhaps? Or have I gone stark raving mad (likely)?

Great analysis.

OP says Neeld "must get results", but such results are "up for debate".

That's about the level of contribution that I expect from this poster.

Yes.

As long as we almost break even in inside 50's and contested possessions, and beat the franchises, Neeld will be fine.
Really?? Is that all you expect.

Fair enough.

I was being a little sarcastic.

However my expectations of this mob are so low it's not funny.

The whole organization lost me when we got outclassed by Port in Darwin.

of course they are up for debate.

Your expectations will know doubt be different to mine to an organization we both fund.

The team lost me around 2005/2006ish...

thats when I realised we were pretenders & we had the wool pulled well & truly over our eyes.

From there it was all steady downhill, full steam ahead.

We are now into a full Culture rebuild with Honesty @ its Heart.... Integrity in its Core, & True Grit in its Actions.

So, now we are awaiting the year of the Rooster?

I didn't start the thread, If I had I would have elaborated on my expectations. You just put your hands in the air.

I get that you don't get it. You never do.

So, this thread basically says "we need to do better this year". Genius.

no..what it is saying is that this second year is going to be Neeld's most important as an AFL coach.

If 2013 is not good he can kiss his career goodbye...so it will be fascinating to watch how he handles it all considering the shite he put up with in 2012.

Different people on here will all have different expectations of what "success" is.

What is yours Stuie?

I think these could be construed as my basic expectations for 2013

Sorry if you don't understand Mr Hur.

I think as long as neeld gets us somewhere around the 8 most of us will be happy, it will be crazy if we don't get results this year considering the list clear out and the improvement with training. Even if we only win 4 or 5 games again this year can we really blame Neeld? If the players put in the effort he does we should see results in no time.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
