think people are overrating Pederson a bit.

Last I heard was that he is struggling a tad at training. Not to mention not being able to get a game at NMFC

Olisik. Im almost certain that if you are ever positive it is one of the seven signs of the apocalypse.

mordja - I must say whilst I would normally agree with your sentiments regarding olislk's gloomy outlook on life, for once I tend to share at le sst some of his 'reservations' on Pedersen. Look, he may well turn out to be a good find but has yet to prove his worth. So whilst I remain optimistic as I always am at this time of year,, I aren't quite as excited, as yet, as are some.

Couple of mates of mine follow Norf and were upset to see him go.

I took that as a promising sign. Looking forward to seeing what he can do in 2013.

As usual a nothing interview on SEN. Imo Clark could quite easily become the best ruckman in the game. I too want him as a key forward, but I have no problem with him playing 20 mintes a game in the ruck, as he's very influential when he gets the opportunity.

He almost was in 08(?).

Yesterday on SEN Tim Watson was going on about us going to darwin and saying as a new recruit you'd rather go to the States than Darwin as you wouldnt want to train in the heat and also you get to go to the states. I thought does everyone need an opinion on where we go now.

Tim Watson asked Neeldy today about the heat, humidity and recovery and Neeld just said well when we come back we arent playing a game of football the following week and the players are on there christmas break. It seemed to shut Watto up. Thats the great thing about Neeldy he has an answer that just shuts knockers up straight away.

You could almost tell by the relief in his voice about this years recruiting and list turnover. he seems much more happier this year and says the players have come back in great shape. Mind you I would have been scared to rock up to day 1 of pre season very unfit.

what the hell would watson know? its not like they are going to either the states or darwin to go on a bender is it?

why do they have to go to america for altitude anyway?

why not south africa? why not nepal? if they are only going to 1700+ odd metres, why not just go up to kosci? much cheaper!

Wasn't Clark recruited with the promise of playing as a forward?

Mitch played alongside JBrown. He wasn't their first choice forward. He spent time in the ruck and did very well particularly in I think 2010.

For us he has been a lead forward. The rigours of ruckwork mean that we are probably better off playing him solely up fwd. But the footy dept will no doubt sort it out.

Perplexing? Really?

Why does the back-up ruck have to be so effective in the ruck?

He spends the predomainant amount of his time doing something else...

Would think you would want whoever you have relieving in the ruck to at least break even? If not you could be looking at the opposition putting on a couple of goals pretty quickly while your No. 1 is on the bench.

I also need to see if he can do the something else. We are talking about a 25 YO who couldn't get regular game time.

Its called an opinion mate.

Opinion: A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof.

In other words, you can be a vacuous ignoramus and still have an "opinion". (not suggesting you are ... of course)

my answer would be at least our young players are going on a camp. Essendon took a select group only overseas from what I understand, with the whole playing group going on a training camp to the Gold Coast. Maybe he could've asked Jobe if they're young players were disappointed?

as for Mitch, I think he may pinch hit in the ruck when needed, for example if Jamar is having a bad day we could sub him half way through the third, bring extra run off the bench, and throw mitch into the ruck... I think though that when Jamar and Pedersen are both in the game, Mitch won't ruck.

Anyone got a podcast to it at all? Love hearing Neeld speak, he comes across like a true leader. He and Craigy both seem to have the polish required to be a leader of an AFL club...just compare to someone like Peter Rhode when he was in charge of the Doggies, Matty Primus or Bluey McKenna to get a feel for how it is done poorly.

Does anyone have the link to the podcast? What time was it. Thanks for the info Lace Out

I searched SEN - couldn't find a podcast. Anyone found one?

Think the interview was too brief to warrant one.

I heard them replay the interview later that day and there wasn't much to it.

The posts in this thread have covered everything.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
