WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DEAN KENT

Featured Replies

Very interesting.

Sprited Demon top of pack

A classy midfielder/forward from the Perth Demons. Here's his Inside Football pen picture:

Dean Kent

Perth, WA

DOB: 24/2/1994 . Ht: 180cm Wt: 81 kg.

He is a physically strong boy from Northam and he's very elusive with a great side step. A long kicking left footer who was the winner of the Jack Clarke medal for the best player in the WAFL Colts competition this year. He is a prolific ball winner off a high half forward and everyone was scratching their heads as to why he wasn't selected in the State under 18s. He has the ability to go into the midfield down the track as he hasn't reached his potential endurance wise yet - Wayne Langbourne, Perth colts coach.

We chose the class of Jimmy Toumpas ahead of Oliver Wines' strength and toughness. This choice gives us a player who can play strongly inside. Not exactly a Wines but would have pleased Mark Neeld with the way he plays.

Who??

Nickname 'Clark'.

Superman.

Clark Kent

From the Perth Demons to the Melbourne Demons!

Can't say i watch WAFL colts, so never seen him play

#82 Port Adelaide (Via Adelaide) – Dean Kent (WA – Fwd/Mid)

Height: 180cm, Weight: 81kg, DOB: 24/02/1994

Recruited from: Perth

Style:

Player comparison: Alex Fasolo

Range: 30-rookie

Profile: Very unlucky not to make the WA state squad. Powerful inside ball and is a big time clearance player who shines at stoppages. Inside work is just so effective and can be a serious difference maker with some of his inside work. Kent is a big time accumulator and getting is better as the season goes. Kicking ability very good and has some penetration and hurt factor but is very kick happy. Seems to have some selfishness in his play but that in no way takes away from the quality of his play.

From what ive read of him, he sounds pretty good!

PLAYER ASSESSMENT

Has excellent game sense and ability to read the play, is also a prolific ball winner whether playing through the midfield or across half forward. His ability to penetrate on his raking left foot poses a real threat to opposition teams. Can be very dangerous up forward and kick multiple goals with his creative play. His standout game was a 30 possession, 10 marks and 2 goals performance in Round 6 vs Subiaco at Colts level. Winner of the 2012 Jack Clarke Medal for the WAFL Colts Best & Fairest player.

WA midfielder who have only seen a little of but would have to be one of the better WA mids going around. What I have seen suggests he is little like Luke Parker at same age albeit probably spends not as much time in middle. Strong bodied HF / midfielder who excels at getting his hands on the ball at the stoppages, get away quickly from the contest and seems to put to good advantage. Also has the ability to get his hands on the ball often having averaged 20+ possessions at Colts level. Has a weapon insomuch has a raking left foot but he isn’t 180cm plus and I think that might hurt him a bit as well as the fact he didnt get a National DC invite which suggests to me the jury is still out on him but he fits the bill. Would they redraft Schneider or Osborne here?

Yeah. Like the players we are getting. Footy accumulators.

Looks like a slimmer version of Tappy - refer Robbie F pic.

But pretty happy they have concentrated on Mid Fielders.

I think we needed a few

Very positive info there!!

Yes, this has "hardest team to play against" written all over it:

"Dean Kent is just a unit. I can't believe he didn't make the 18s squad. He is a tough nut and has a booming left foot. Was reported in the 3rd for high contact but I think he'll get off. A very solid physical player who I rate highly."

I knew there was a connection between Dean and Kent somewhere, it was bugging me!

You can count on me to connect pointless bits of info Clint!

The club got vision up very quickly.

Must have been very keen on him.

Sounds very good.

There's your potential inside mid for those who wanted Wines.

Loving the sound of the big Kent.

You SL...T

Watching footage of him just screams Stephen Powell...

If the AFL draft tracker is any indication, they wasted no time in calling out his name either. There was zero pause time for any of our picks actually. The club knew who it wanted and picked without hesitation. Frankly, with the amount of preparation that goes in to the draft these days, I'm surprised that isn't true for all the clubs.

That left foot of his looks like a real weapon.

Aggressive and constantly used his pace to take the game on in the footage on MFC.com.
