Your favourite mixed metaphor

C'mon everyone.

I think it's time we laid all our eggs on the table.

Stan Alves: "He gets a big tick on the back"

Mark Maclure: "You know what? We'll just have to wait and see how the deckchairs fall"

People who live in glass houses should get out and smell the roses

(do people actually live in glass houses?)

Seriously doubt it!

"Its no skin off my back." - Olisik, Nov 14th Training thread.

Missed the apostrophe too :P

I don't think it's a mixed metaphor, but what really annoys me is when people say "That will learn you!" Now call me stupid.....but wouldn't it be "teach?"

A colleague once told me I was as loose as a cannon.

you must be an age journo,

my dear watson?

Jack Dyer " He extends his arms into the air like giant testicles to take the mark"

Not really a mixed metaphor but it still makes me laugh.

"Their coming home with a wet sail". Somehow in football speak this means exactly the opposite of what it does in sailing.

I think you will find that the people who say this have watched one to many Simpsons episodes.

You shouldn't throw wood in loose beavers.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
