Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The brief to Ray Finkelstein QC: what does it mean for the MFC?

We cannot know what sort of 'arrangement' has been entered into, insofar as retaining the counsel of Ray Finklestein QC. Needless to say, the man knows his stuff and is extremely thorough. All he needs to do is demonstrate the lack of merit in the current proceedings and the AFL will drop this like a hot scone.

The AFL commission would not want to be embarrassed any further. If Finklestein's submissions make out grounds of a lack of procedural fairness on the part of the AFL, then this could provide a precedent, for which the AFL could well do without, looking forward.

Andrew Demetriou wanted Melbournefc to stand for something.

Wish granted Andrew.

Today's news is the best news in 2012 as far as I am concerned.

Finally an MFC that stands and fights for its position.

Perhaps we do have a place in the 21st Century.

Thank God and pass the ammunition!

Its crazy that the AFL are still trawling through emails. The proof of the pudding is in the eating ............ all our eminent QC needs to do to defend us is to ask the Commission to compare two last quarters

  • The last quarter of the Kreuzer Cup in 2007 when Carlton took off Fev and stood back while Melbourne ( note!) ran over them;
  • The last quarter of the Melb v Rich game in 2009 when Melbourne came from behind (note!) to hit the front in time on - only to be pipped by a kick after the siren

Now forget the hot air and vaults and contradictory statements and whinges from former players Mr Commissioner - look at the evidence that matters - and tell me that Melbourne tanked!

AKA backing down while attempting to minimise loss of face.

She even seems to be casting doubt on the most compelling piece of evidence of all - Schwab's look of disappointment after the Port Adelaide game. Not long ago she thought he should be sacked for that !!!

This lead investigator has come out of a war zone. He's an army man cum-policeman.Yes Sir .... Name Rank and Serial Number Sir ....... Name Rank and Serial Number.

How can this guy understand the nuances of debate around a footy club - when humour, anger, emotion etc influence what things are said and how things are interpreted. How can this guy be an effective investigator when there is no black letter law. He is an expert grilling confessions out of sex offenders.Law and Order SVU !!

Talk about using a sledgehammer to crack a nut

The AFL have really botched this whole thing

All Demon fans should be rejoicing at the news, not only because of the legal heavy hitting nature of the fellow, but also because we have quite clearly and publicly let the powers that be know that we will fight tooth and nail if they do decide to go us.

This is very un-Melbourne-like ... and a very welcome change at a footy club that has for too long dutifully played the part of the 90-pound weakling getting sand kicked in its face at the beach.

The off-field generals are now setting the tone for the on-field soldiers to follow. Whether in the courts or across the white line of play, know that we will NO LONGER be pushed around.

Bring on 2013 and F!?#k the Establishment. We are becoming DEMONS at last!!

Demon-small.jpg

Thank goodness for that!!!!

All I can say is it's about time.

I was just about done trying to fight for this caupse, without any fightback occurring.

This is what we need.

Maybe that was their intention in an effort to make it go away.

An old political saying is that you don't ever have an inquiry unless you know the outcome beforehand.

The AFL would have had an idea of the outcome before it started. They don't want a can of worms or to embarrass their CEO form previous comments and stance.

I'd prefer the Witch treatment

Hahahahaha if I could like this twice I would.

I watched it last week and out of all the Monty Python movies this is my favourite scene.

I'd prefer to sue and get a shrubbery - one that looks nice but not too expensive.

Or possibly two shrubberies, one slightly higher than the other so we get a two level effect and we can have a path in the middle

Unless of course you are out flanked 'politically'. Finklestein's involvement may well just do that.

It seems to me that CW is either making this up, or getting fed by the AFL investigation or people close to it. I may be late to the party in recognising this - but I just can't believe any organisation would leak like that (other than major political parties and their spivs).

It's beyond belief if, in fact, the AFL is leaking.

I reckon it wouldn't have started in the first place if Demetriou hadn't been on London. Having played the game he knew tanking wasn't provable - which is why he kept saying it wasn't happening

If the MFC take good legal advice on all this and stand united, there are going to be a lot of red faces and maybe a few scapegoats at AFL HQ.

Angry Anderson should have fully dealt with this when DB made his presser.

This is his [censored] up imo.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
