Can't hurt to see how he goes for almost nothing. Did he play in Port's premiership? I'm sure he wont be a walk up start, but the competition for spots will be good, and if he can prove that he deserves to be in the side, then great.

Of all the smallish players we have, not one knows how to crumb to a tall forward.

Even if he does re-injure his knee, I'm sure his knowledge will come in very handy mentoring our players.

Conversely look at the players who have left or are rumored to be on the block. There have been question marks on their approach to training (with the possible exception of Rivers).

Neeld is desperate to drive up the training standards and clearly sees it as a fundamental element of successful sides. Where the risk of having an older bloke at the club who trains at 100%. Whose spot on the list is he taking?

I had similar thoughts about Byron Pickett and the FD didn't share my thoughts on him either and Ben Holland.

Another example of the club bringing in a player that has been in a successful program and played in a grand final (in 2007). Fill's a need, so a smart move by the club given we gave up practically nothing in pick 88.

Another poster on another site was very critical of Neeld in obtaining Rodan. Words such as Neeld is putting dad's army together "to save himself".

I'm taking note of all the posters who wanted to win games in 2012, the one's who were fed up, had enough, those that vote a minimum of 12 winning games next year, yet are now dismissing the trade moves as a move to "save himself" by obtaining experience.

You can't have it both ways. Well you can, but it makes you look like a dick.

I was initially critical of them getting Byrnes, but given the lack of capacity in being able to attract players through trade week (ie. a younger alternative), the one's they have got to fulfil specified roles including Byrnes, is a decent move in the interim and supports their objectives in setting standards.

Had a bit more of a think and a read......if he gets fit he can be a damaging midfielder.....but he can also teach......Premiership winning player again.....the Footy Dept seem to be building a theme/team here
