Norwood makes SANFL Grand Final

Featured Replies

The red and the blue will be worn in the SANFL Grand Final in a fortnight's time after the Norwood Redlegs comprehensively beat West Adelaide in today's semi final:

Norwood 8.13.61 West Adelaide 2.5.17

Ha!

Captain of West Adelaide is former Dee Ryan Ferguson and they wear the Essendon colours.

Has he put on any weight? Just curious if it was ever going to happen...

Cool. I like the Redlegs.

Me too wyl.

Did anyone see that the Horsham Demons won their tenth yes tenth Premiership in a row.

Now there is a Dynasty.

Go Dees

Fellow Redleg tragic and myself will be heading across to the GF in Adelaide. We both finished up in Melbourne 20 years or so ago with work but still keep an eye on the results from across the border. We remember the dynasty of the late 70's and early 80's where the 'Legs played in 5 grand finals in 9 years for 4 wins.

Keen to see if any Moneyball candidates in either team.

Good to see a mate of mine kick 7 to push North into next week.

I miss Garry McIntosh, the best footballer I've ever seen never play in the AFL.

and don't forget Horrie Gorringe

Bassett will likely be at Hawthorn next year as an assistant coach. I wish we snared him last year, would have been a great replacement for Wellman.

and don't forget Horrie Gorringe

Freddie Cook.

Hope the Westies bounce back, cousins husband plays for them, ripping bloke deserves a medal around his neck after a tough couple of years. Sorry to all the Redlegs out there!

James Aish, son of Andrew and nephew of legend Michael Aish will be a star of the future.

Freddie Cook.

lets not go there biffo,..... but he did play VFL, 32 games for the scraggers 67-69

Micheal Aish for mine. with that ruckman from WA whose name i can't recall ATM a close second (as a kid when he played in the state games against the vics i thought of him like the Cuban Olympic boxers in the 70's who dominated but never went pro - particularly one of their heavy weights who by all accounts was the Cuban Ali. Again i sadly can't recall his name)

Stephen Michael?

i still remember Gary McIntosh half the field handballs as a kid! Good friend of my dads, they always used to go and get hammered at the Bath Hotel down the parade back in the day.

Good god every time I see "his" name I shudder and think of the if only, the what if, IF "he" had of accepted that trade to the Hawks for Sewell..... [censored] END!!

Does any one know of a website or phone app. that we could watch the game on?

Is it on local radio?

Incidentally, that 2nd semi score reminds me of that great Grand Final day in 1960 when we gained retribution against Collingwood!

Below is off the West Adelaide website of where the game is going to be shown live:

Melbourne:

The Charles Dickens Tavern - 290 Collins St Melbourne (Ph 03 9654 1821)

The Fleece Hotel, 120 Montague St, South Melbourne (Ph 03 9682 0208)

Nothing as yet if it will be shown online anywhere, if it is I'll post on here....

Cheers

Thanks stinga.

I went to the Charles Dickens a few years ago when Jack Trengove played in the grannie for Sturt and with all due respect it's a bit of a dungeon (literally) and the food was just ...

Anyone been to the Fleece and can we get some Demon support going for the Redlegs there?

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
