Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is your support of the MFC unconditional ?

lots to like through this thread

And so many familiar themes

Perhaps this is part of what the culture of the club is. Greater than the players or the FD or the CEO.

The expressions of Dland remind me of the companions I have made through the sharing of support for Ds

I also have a soft spot for any club any code wearing the red and blue so its a very deep but hard to define feeling.

My support has changed from follower to member to legend member and now to Dland member and contributor, Dont get to Melb much and limited $$$ stifles my contribution But I am the only mug that picks the d"s in the pub tipping comp, Started as receiving a gesture of scorn but now am respected for that stance and have met fellow demon supporters through it.

I always fare badly in tipping as I tip from the heart not the head and I guess that will always rule with the Dees

Maintain the passion and maintain the fellowship of this site

GO DEES

Completely feel your pain about the tipping!! Can just never bring myself to tip against the Dees and suffer as a consequence. One day it will all come together...

The club is 150 years years worth of stories of thousands of peoples, the last six years (and my childhood in the 70's) is not enough to even remotely make me think of giving up. With my family connections to the club it is basically my tribe, a group I identify with and thankfully because its a sporting club stupid things like religion and race don't come into it.

That said if the club became a plaything of some Russian ogliarch or Clive Palmer type [censored] then I would think the club had died. As much as I thank JoeG for his input I was glad when he withdrew from the club because I did not want to see my club used as a vehicle for a political agenda. I also see Free Agency as a serious threat to clubs like ours and remain very nervous about it.

My two children have no choice and I have/will blackmail them at every turn - I was very proud when my six year old daughter (at the time), called a Penrith player a 'bumsniffer' after he ridiculed her for supporting the Dee's (she was living in the hostile territory of the Blue Mountains) and he had been canvassing the school room asking each child who they supported in the NRL.

My son was signed up even before he was born and that was 2010 when we truly stank as a team.

At least we had Robbie Flower growing up, currently they have no one.

I do think RF basically kept the club alive in the dark 70's he was the only thing I could hang my hat on in the school yard and I still hate dipper and ironmonger for trying to kill him. We could do with another 'saviour' type player - I think Chris Grant was that for the Dogs.

Over a few beers 25 years ago I asked a carlton mate a question.I asked him after winning a flag is there still a passion for another. He said [censored] yeah.I still don't understand.

Having watched Geelong closely over the last decade. It has been interesting to watch the supporter base ego change.Success breeds new expectations.

I hope we have new expectations soon.

New expectations ? The only thing I'm interested in is a flag. If I knew I wouldn't see a flag I'd be gone today. It's all that matters.

There's only ever been one Melbourne player I've loved and that was Flower. He was a beacon of light during dark times. I've liked plenty, but I'm only interested in lauding premiership players. Obviously they're hard to win and not everyone can reach that goal, but it's a non-negotiable standard.

Without a flag they're nothing more than bit players. And they know it.

Reaccquanting oneself with other forms of sport I think can dull some of the pain. I think from next year, while still supporting the Dees, I am going to start dividing my loyalties more evenly amongst other sports teams. I went to the Storm game on Friday night and can I tell you, it felt bloody good to walk away with a winning feeling rather than slinking away with my tail between my legs and opposition fans secretly smirking at me (and our supporters). I think supporting the Dees alone will end up killing any love I have for sports. I will watch the Storm in the Granny next week and am getting NBA League pass to watch the Lakers in the NBA. This will take an edge off the numbness that can come with supporting the MFC.

Unless they merge with the Nazi Party mine probably is. If the place falls into disarray again and the fans do nothing to stop it then we deserve what we get.

totally unconditional, l make threats and let the club know how l feel through emails but been supporting since the day l was born and will till the day l die.

This is what I have been doing with NFL & NBA as well. Unfortunately the team I follow in the NFL the New York Jets seem as cursed as the MFC! I can only take a passing interest in the Storm though because NRL just doesn't keep my interest.

Yes, I suppose it is.

I'll also be signing the "old man" up for next year too. MFC isn't his team but he hopes they win on my account - that's enough.

You mean you did not follow dad.

Who does dad support?

I am genuinely interested

Dad is a Crow - we are originally from SA but have lived interstate over the years - I have no afinity with the Crows and have followed the Dees since '87, dad jumped on the Crows in '91 but didn't really follow a VFL/AFL team before they came in.

He also knew Neil Craig at Norwood quite well from when he was a young player up to coach. Can't speak high enough of the man - ultra professional as a player and brilliant developer of young players as a coach.

Now I understand why you are MFC.

Don't tell your Dad but I loath the Crows, bottom of the deck for me.

I was dancing around the lounge last saturday night.

Your Dad does have redeaming qualities as a Norwood supporter so I welcome him to the Dees.

My Father was a MFC man when I was born, early years were great but I often wished he had supported Carlton, Essendon, North, Geelong or Hawthorn

Life would have been so much better this last half century.

I seriously hate the Hawks, but I then again I hate all the other sides. I hope the Swans win just to wipe the arrogant look of the Hawks supporters' faces.

I live for that look RobbieF

That is why I like the hawks they are everything the MFC is not and everything we should aspire to be in the future.

I cannot wait for the time the Dees are disliked as much as the Hawks.

Until then and for the next three days GO HAWKS

Started supporting the dees in 1953. This has been my 60th year of following them. Couldn't stop now. Sad that.

Still, I like Neeld and believe in him.

I Dislike what the AFL has become - they have made a mockery of a great game. But I am cursed to love the dees and I guess I always will.

Hey, Angry! You and me, mate! Followed the Dees since my birth back in 1953. Had three good reasons to follow them -- my Dad followed them, and both of my sisters followed Collingwood (albeit, probably to spite Dad! LOL)

So, absolutely unconditional support for the dees until the day I die. Just looking forward to a little more success on the field!

I do not wish to see an arrogant Jeff Kennett on Saturday evening.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
