Melbourne Supporters Are Too Accepting of Player Non-Performance

We've become conditioned to make excuses for them.

We shouldn't tolerate it anymore.

I don't think that's the case at all.

We all know this thread is just an excuse for you to try and bash Watts again, so why don't you just start up a NikNat love thread mate.

It's a fine line between excuses and reasons.

To me, an excuse is when you partly contributed to the poor outcome. Hence, if someone has done all they can but just aren't up to it that's not an excuse. That's a reason.

I don't think anybody who doesn't do their best would have lasted the season, surely.

Read anyone of 10 threads running hot at the present and you'll see the performances aren't being accepted by the supporters one bit. Even better the media are bashing the performances too. Hopefully with these two groups riding their arses we may finally see the football department pull its weight.

You've taken such an extreme anti-excuse position that you're no longer able to distinguish between a reason and an excuse.

I've had enough and demand changes, wholesale changes, radical changes ... to the list.

Minimum 10 yo get the chop. Hopefully the maximum possible like Richmond did.

Be merciless Neeldy. Axe these bums with extreme prejudice!

The moderators have become too conditioned to the rubbish (and multiple threads that all come back to the same thing) RR posts on this site.

Sounds like a troll. Smells like a troll. Tastes like a trolls. Is a troll

They shouldn't tolerate it any more.

Nope. I'm a Melbourne supporter and I won't tolerate inept performances anymore. Had enough.

90 losses in the past 120 games. Enough's enough.

what the [censored] do you suggest we do?

stop buying memberships and let the club fold? stop turning up the games and give the players less reason to play hard?

Keep putting the Pressure on the Admin to get the best possible administrators from across Australia, & to get the best Footy people from Clubs with Strong Cultures of success.

Just keep on the pressure to get it done.

Then, what prey tell, do you intend to do about it (other than post inane comments and silly polls).

He is doing it. Getting discussions going with members. We are shareholders of this club.

What is inane about demanding improvement after the rubbish we have all endured this year.

To accept quietly is inane.

Everyone should have received the annual members survey via email last week if they get the club email updates. Can I suggest that people use that as a forum to strongly and constructively offer their ideas? I think a lot of the frustration on Demonland comes not only out of supporting an inept club but from a feeling of voicelessness and helplessness. A survey isn't going to solve everything but it's a good chance to communicate with the club.

God... this season has really messed with your head RR. The quality of what you post has dropped tenfold and the pointless threads (which are all along the same lines) are just getting out of hand. Could you add a bit more to the discussion, like what to do about the issue you bring up? Because if you are 'demanding' big list cuts, that's unnecessary because with 11 players out of contract and talks on hold, its pretty obvious that there are going to be changes.

And when there is a large cull, please don't claim that your endless threads and polls swayed the list management team.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
