Very interesting week coming up.

Ins: Spencer, Jetta.

Outs: Jamar (inj), Bennell (inj).

IN: Sellar, Jetta, Gysberts (if Grimes injured)

OUT: Jamar, Bennell, Grimes (if injured)

Depends a bit on injuries and MRP for the outs (Grimes, Bail) and ins (Watts, Tapscott, Sellar, Magnar - if indeed he was injured). And Petterd, who played poorly, should be given a second and possibly last chance.

But nevertheless, I'll take a punt:

Out: Jamar, Bennell, Bate

In: Spencer, Watts, Sellar.

If Watts doesn't get up, Tapscott to come in.

Ins: Spencer, Watts, Jetta

Outs: J-man, Bennell, Bate

FB: McDonald - Frawley - Nicho

HB: Strauss - Garland - Watts

C: Grimes - Jones - Trengove

HF: Howe - Martin - Sylvia

FF: Green - Petterd - Rivers

R: Pencil - Couch - McKenzie

I: Blease - Bail - McDonald

S: Jetta

Ins: Spencer, Watts, Jetta

Outs: J-man, Bennell, Bate

FB: McDonald - Frawley - Nicho

HB: Strauss - Garland - Watts

C: Grimes - Jones - Trengove

HF: Howe - Martin - Sylvia

FF: Green - Petterd - Rivers

R: Pencil - Couch - McKenzie

I: Blease - Bail - McDonald

S: Jetta

That would have to top off our year for worst mid field in the comp.

Spencer, Couch, Mckenzie and Jones at the center bounce

After such a long lay off, i really doubt Jetta would be sent up to Darwin for a taxing game in the heat.

I reckon Fitz could get a run over Spencer. Martin main ruck, Fitz backup/forward.

Well I don't see why?

McKenzie will tag.. Jones has been shredding and his kicking was very good on saturday and Couch is apparently a clearance specialist.

Sadly, this is all I look forward to most weeks this season, but alas...

Guessing on injuries, and going on having watched Casey's game yesterday, I would think:

IN:

Spencer, Morton, Gysberts, Moloney (just)

OUT:

Jamar (thigh), Bennell (ACL), Grimes (ankle), Strauss

Not sure where Watts and Tappy are at, so left them out for now. Strauss out mainly due to having to play a whole game when initially a sub and may struggle in the conditions at Darwin given he wouldn't have a full fitness base as yet. I would guess Magner would get another week off rather than being subjected to the sapping game coming up.

Really hope Petterd is left in, thought his intent was good yesterday, just needs to get more in tune with our setups etc.

I would like to see us roll the dice a little. Must balance between rolling the dice of form.

very sad about Bennell. Is Grimesy injured?

Outs: Bennell, Grimes (if injured), Jamar.

Ins: Watts, Jetta(if permitted re the Couch selection), Jurrah even with a sore leg! Moloney

Martin to Ruck on all night!!!!! How bout giving Leigh Williams a Crack?

Sellar is Rubbish seriously!

Would rather see Leigh Williams given a crack

I had thought Sellar was rubbish until they put him in the backline. Then he seemed to do OK and freed up Garland and/or Rivers to go forward.

What are you talking about? Sellar was very good as a defender since his recall against Essendon.

And I believe Williams is recovering from a very serious viral infection and played his first game back on the weekend.

laughable.

of all places you CANT have a solo ruck effort...its Darwin.

yep came out and rolled 1+1 !!

You have to wonder rpfc.

I was not a fan of Sellar but he proved me wrong over the last 4 games he played.

And Ditto re Williams, I think it amazing he is even playing for Casey at present.

I know Spencer was BOG but surely Martin is still a better option as first ruck and therefore we are looking at a second ruck/ forward type and Fitzpatrick has Spencer covered in that role. Therefore I'd rather Fitzy in.

Pretty much what I'm saying is Martin (ruck) + Fitzpatrick (Forward/Ruck) is a better combination than Spencer (ruck) + Martin (forward/ruck).

Jetta for Bennell seems a straight forward change given we need to give Jetta a few more goes then if Grimes is out you have to decide who has earnt a recall more - Gysberts or Morton.

Given Casey reports Spencil is a near certainty. No-one's mentioned Dunn but he will be close given he is match fit and hard. Watts a definite since he is one of the best users we have. If Jetta gets a run though, that's four changes. For mine, I am unimpressed with Bail.

Gotta love teams getting sprung trying to speak to other players. I wonder how the cats will spin their way out of answering any questions.

Well they really weren't being all that slealthy about it.......

In: Morton, Gysberts, Tapscott, Jetta, Dunn, Spencer, Ftzpatrick.

Out: Grimes (inj), jamar (inj), Bennell (dropped/injured/bags packed), Strauss, Bate, Petterd, J Mcd

All of those changes, and Watts doesn't get back in? Amazing!!!

structure ??? agst the Dockers, we had two many half fwd flanks and half back flanks. Once Jamar went down and Martin into the ruck, our fwd line was all 6 footers (Green, Petterd, Sylvia, Howe, Bate). All one dimensional.

B: Nicholson, Frawley, Rivers

HB: Morton, Garland, T Mcd

c: Blease, Gysberts, Bail/Trengove

HF: Sylvia, Fitzpatrick, Howe

Fwd: Jetta, Martin, Green

Ruck: Spencer, J Mck, Jones

Int: Dunn, Tapscott, Bail/Trengove sub: Couch

emerg: Moloney, Sellar, Petterd

(put Trengove on the wing to start the game as "must" have the skipper on to start the match)

In: Morton, Gysberts, Tapscott, Jetta, Dunn, Spencer, Ftzpatrick.

Out: Grimes (inj), jamar (inj), Bennell (dropped/injured/bags packed), Strauss, Bate, Petterd, J Mcd

Bate is 193. Howe is 192. Six foot is 183.

Forgot about Sellar. If he's OK to play he comes straight back in and into defence, freeing up Garland to move back to the forward line.

Pretty much what I'm saying is Martin (ruck) + Fitzpatrick (Forward/Ruck) is a better combination than Spencer (ruck) + Martin (forward/ruck).

Hmmm, interesting. I still think Martin's longterm role is going to have to be forward/ruck so I'd rather see him play there. He looked good in the first quarter. I'm not sold at all on Fitzpatrick (i.e. I think he's crap). Not that I think Spencer is that much better, but I'd rather play Martin as the second ruck because that's his more likely position.

OUT: Jamar,Grimes,Bennel,Trengove(rest inj),Bate

Good idea. Unless they're injured. Drop both captains......

Trengove stays for mine.

After such a long lay off, i really doubt Jetta would be sent up to Darwin for a taxing game in the heat.

I reckon Fitz could get a run over Spencer. Martin main ruck, Fitz backup/forward.

Jetta needs to prove his worth. If they dont think he can cope up there, his fate is sealed for mine.

Given Spencer slaughtered the opposition big man on Saturday, I think he will get the nod

Dunn ....hard?? Blow me down with a feather

Dunn ....hard?? Blow me down with a feather

I think it's the mo, it confuses people ;) !!!

Wow. Just..... wow.

I know people say this all the time, but I REEEALLY mean it, worst. post. ever.

Hello, he's played that role before (Dunn).

Are we playing in Dar_Win, or not? Where the ball will be on the deck 98.5% of the time & you want to pay both Martin & Spencer or other tall ruck option???

This ground & conditions demand players with quickness & agility, where players can change direction with ease, & play in burst style rotations.

If we don't want to win then go 'Too' tall.

I think we do want to win, and we'll go in very athletic/mobile. And I think/hope Jetta will play some role as well, deservedly & for other obvious reasons.

I think Spencer, & also Fitzy, will get a game in coming weeks.

You can't play one ruckman in ANY game, let alone one where players will get more tired than usual due to the conditions.

Martin will play FF and ruck back up, Spencer will ruck. Putting Dunn in the ruck is conceding the game. Silly suggestion when we have a guy (Spencer) who was BOG in the VFL last week.

I don't think we'll focus as much on mobile players as you think, as they say the tall players don't get shorter as the game goes on.

IMO, no match-up for Sellar unless Garland is sent forward again.

You can, & we have, as most clubs have, played 1 Ruck on Many occasions over the last 6 or 7 Years, Grant Thomas was famous for it & it stated to catch on after him. Since the reduced interchange bench, Playing 1 Ruck, plus a tall forward became a bit more in Vogue.

We've played Jamar, rucking on his own many times over the last 3 years. Last Year Steph Martin strongly raised his hand in the Air, after many wise Pundits around here had him delisted.

Hot Oppresssive, Humid, Slippery conditions, isn't played @ Etihard. Nor the 'G'.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
