WOW

Hi Caro

I'm not going to pretend to know anything about Toumpas, but a lot of people were excited when we picked up Morton with pick four.

I'm more than happy to wait a few years before getting too excited.

At some point we are going to get these picks right.

I choose now.

Will be a star!

Honestly, let's look at our Football Dept's effort. They've turned 3, 4, 13, 27 etc. into Hogan, Toumpas, Dawes, Viney. That is a massive effort Dees Ladies and Dees Gents!!! Hats off to you good sir.

Worst case scenario was, Viney, Wines, let's say Nathan Hrovat and who ever is left. Honestly, today feels like daylight robbery, without the gun in hand.

Welcome Jimmy Toumpas, Jack Viney and others who I'm sure we'll get to know better. We're on our way.

You forgot Barry.

I know you said "etc" but Hogan and Barry remain as "twins".

Screw that. I'm getting excited now. If I'm disappointed in two years time then so be it - I don't expect that I will be though.

Can't believe he slipped through to pick 4 and can't believe we got him. He is exactly what we need - a quick, running midfielder who can kick. Yes, we got a top draft pick who can kick!!!

Cowboy - you have been a Dees supporter for too long. Take a Berocca, sit and watch his highlights again and feel the love.

I cant believe it myself to be honest. what happened there? One second he was a certain pick 2? Do GWS have too many talented speeders with poise and disposal already LOL?

He's not soft, he's Greek. Will prove to be a steal, cannot believe the Giants went O'Rourke over him.

Sorry mate but I haven't said a bad word about Jimmy. I'm rapt we have him.

GWS have to be tanking to pass him off to us.

They recruited for needs (GWS). Simple. Good old case of being in the right place at the right time. Funny enough that I am happy with Toumpas and Viney but to get Kent and Terlich is massive.

Redlegs gun player in this years grand final and won the BOG.

Kent a bonafide Ollie Wines type at a cheap price. Coasters were all ore him as well as the dockers.

fellas! We simply cleaned up

GWS is not tanking its just tom $cully$'s dad doing the picking for them, he is probably trying to get guys who wont show up his boy.

Speaking of that miserable pile of plop, and there may be some hindsight vision here, but when he was drafted did he look like he had just been told that Phil had sat on his cat on the couch (or possibly just eaten the cat)?

Contrast that with Jimmy T, genuinely looked excited, or "stoked" in the parlance of our times.

haha gold , cheers

Kissed on the dick. bigtime.

i vote we rename the thread - K.O.T.D welcome to Melbourne Jimmy, home of the great Greek Souvlaki.

Serious man crush, and only seen highlights.

I listened on radio, because it's a better coverage and only just watched Foxtel - taped. How happy was Jimmy "the Gun" Toumpas ? I doubt I've ever seen a new draftee as excited and as exuberant.

Love him already.

Really happy with picking up Jimmy, I've been pushing for him since last year and then thought we had lost him to GWS.

Toumpas and Viney with Jones, Trengove, Howe, Grimes, Silvia, McKenzie, Blease and co. we now have a midfield.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
