Changes v Pies

Featured Replies

We need Dunn to play the defensive forward role. When we matched them a couple of years ago a big part of it was tagging their half backs. Garland and Dunn are ideal for that role, and would allow us to keep much the same back 6 as this week.

If Frawley does com in, it needs to be one of the backs who goes. Whoever that is will be desperately unlucky.

Hmmn, close down they're attack.

Tough week at selection.

Out: Dunn, Blease (if injured)

In: Frawley, Bail (If Blease injured)

Dunn Un luckyGot 7 tackles in a quarter of footy

Out Green

Heard on the radio that Pendlebury will be missing next week. Cracked Tibia. Likely to miss a few weeks. Swan back in likely though.

I'm sorry to have to disagree. But Watts was not a loose man in defence irrespective of what anyone in the media might have said. He played on Monfries, Jetta and Davey. He just made space when necessary.

Just to clarify, I probably worded it incorrectly, but it was not my intention to suggest that Watts was playing as a loose man, which is why i said he could pick up whoever is left and play that floater role. He did both on Saturday with great effect. Thanks to his ability to read the play, he floated off his man at times to cut off the entries into the forward 50. He had a number of fantastic defensive actions on Monfries and Watson, and it was great to say that his impact was such that they actually got Monfries to play a defensive role on Watts to reduce his impact

Really, cracked Tibia may be more than a few weeks? If it is, I'd think a month @ least.

Out: Macdonald, Blease

Like-for-like as fitness determines. No injuries equals no change.

Gee, I would love to see Blease available for this game !

Sometimes injuries suck and are cruel to some players. Blease has had his quota.

Time to call in Mr. Miagi ..

Pendles is out for them which is a massive bonus, especially for Jordie Mac

The key to Pies early season bad form was Heath Shaw getting tagged out of games - need to limit his ball and were in with a chance

But im sure Neeld knows exactly what needs to be done to beat them, its up to the players to implement it

Hopefully it rains ;)

Happy to report that Bartram is [censored] and has been since 2007. Don't bring him back.

Happy to report that one of our players has a chronic injury?

Awful!

Frawley as a forward?

Why not? Big body, stretch the Pies' back line.

Can take a mark and kicks okay.

Now that Sellar can look after Cloke? (gulp)

NO change

22 players went to war and won. Lets reward them.

We should pick the team most likely to win.

If that means picking players who did not play last week that's fine by me.

I agree JR. Did anyone see the interview where Frawley seemed very keen to have a go playing up forward?

Maybe putting him in for Green this week & trying him forward (unless a backline emergency calls) could be the best team we could field this week?

heath shaw is injured with a calf so dont need to worry about him

I find it objectionable that a " supporter" could have such disdain for a guy who has given his guts , beyond the call of duty,to our club despite chronic injury.

Weak weak comment... the guy works hard and despite being lambasted for poor disposal or low possession rates, more often than not negates the oppositions' more dangerous players.

Yes get rid of Green easily our worst last week

Tapscott forward Frawley back is just fine by me

Hopefully Blease is ok if not maybe Bartram

Dunn 7 tackles in the last quarter leave him in Please

Maybe I have missed some other thread, but what is the situation with Blease's injury (inflicted by that serial kicker / tripper / kneer Fletcher)?

EDIT: sorry, left out elbower

Agree hardtack

In the first six games he was one of about 5 who earned his spot every week.

does anyone know what's going with Bartram?

Knee problems. Degenerative. Not good long term.

Would love too see Jai Sheahan get a game. Still needs to be elevated though!

Out - Blease

In - Bail

Out- Green, Blease (if injured)

In- Frawley, Bail

Minimal changes to a winning team. Frawley must come in and if Blease is injured we need to bring in a runner. Can anyone confirm if Blease will miss?

In Misson's injury wrap he said he is reasonably confident of Blease coming up with the 8 day break - "a solid cork to pubic bone" - "should be available to play" assuming he gets through training according to one of the more serious dudes in footy

I dont doubt his effort.

His first five games were just OK.

He is/was never a star .

Be honest about Clint.

Even his tagging is a bit loose at times.

Clint has had many opportunities in this team and I hope he has to improve (a lot) to stay in it .

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
