Friday Night

22 vs 22.

We can win.

The dawks don't have a match for clarke. So if jamar and moloney can win plenty of centre clearances and allow the dangerous Sylvia and davey to crumb off the long bomb, it gives us a forward potency similar to roughhead, Cyril and Osborne. I believe garland or frawley can stop Franklin and I would play bennell on Cyril.

Mckenzie can stop Mitchell, hodge is out and moloney and sewell can do battle. Trengove should equal Lewis and jones and magner can scrap for the hard pill.

Play Howe at chf, bate and dunne on the flanks for the long goal, and we have plenty of avenues going forward.

We need to play tapscott for raw strength and grimes can carve up the backline.

Most of all, we need to 'click'.

See, we can't even recall when we last beat those buggers. Beyond tragic isn't it!!

We smashed them on a Friday night in 2006 (about round 8). In fact here it is, we won by 75 points with Campbell Brown acting like a tool and costing them about 4 goals.

I have this game on my hard drive, might be better off sitting at home and watching this on Friday as I'm quite certain the scoreline will be reversed on the weekend.

Almost 6 years to the day...of complete and utter thrashings...It makes me ill with anger, as i had to sit through the '88 GF with 4 Hawthorn Supporters who just gave it to me..And they still do....Wake Up you old Demon Bastard...C'mon F$%^k!!!!

Hate to break it to you, but all of this is wild optimism and far too many 'ifs'.

It all sounds nice, but ignores the fact that they have game breakers all over the park and we suck.

In all honesty I don't have that much of a problem with the Hawks. They play a really good style of football and their players work together really well. Obviously it sucks to have them thrash us, but we need to measure ourselves against sides like this to see how far we have yet to go.

They did ruin my perfect tipping round last week though. Going down to the Swans I ask you...

I think we'll be beaten but probably by about the same margin as by Geelong, I don't think they are better than Geelong and we are playing them at the G not down at Skilled Stadium.

It is their home ground too RobbieF and if we look up the wins over the last ten years I think the Hawks are well ahead including a GF win.

15 goals win to the hawks

If you'd taken them at the line-bet over the last 3 games, all-up, you'd now have 7.08 times your investment.

This week the $1.92 line has them starting 48.5 points ahead of the Hawks.

i think i'd lay out some chash on the line bet so that i have something to cheer about!

maybe we can borrow Dermie's line in the sand

I'd love that to happen OD. Problem is, where are the enforcers?

Maybe we could bring Balls, Yeats, the Febey brothers, Keogh and Jakovich back for this one lol. Even throw Jacko in to line up on buddy lol

you're a drongo for going with them - here's something you can give them back though: we knocked them out in 1990 which stopped their tilt at the hat trick...cold comfort I know but that's what I'm reduced to.

Before the first bounce of '88 they knew what was going to happen....and it still goes on!!!!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
