No, not a troll, I have had the same admiration over the pies for the last 3-4 years.

Just don't really feel the need to express my feelings (like some of the posters) for another club on a public MFC forum.

They beat us by 186 points and laughed.

The players are losing the soft label this year, so maybe it's rubbing off onto the supporters?

And do you think we wouldn't be laughing if we beat the Cats by 186 point?

The fact is that much of this discussion relates to the fact that what was seen in the Cats performance is what many of us would love to see in the Dees... a bit of fight and a never-say-die attitude. It is hardly soft to discuss their superb effort and how we could take a leaf out of their book (your "handbag loving" comment was very odd when you consider how hard they went into each contest)... and many on these forums appreciate good footy, not just the MFC.

A friend told me this morning that G. Ablett flew to the U.S during last year's grand final because he couldn't bear to watch Geelong playing. Does anyone else have any memories of this?

It was in the newspaper today, but I had no knowledge of it at the time.

Not sure if it's still there, but this inspirational cat was randomly featured in the official Dees vs West coast gallery on the afl website.

The caption reads:

Watching the rd 6 1993 bombers v cats game on chooseday night footy on fox. Talk about raining goals!

One Mark Neeld running around in it as well.

But this is a very difficult point for some around here to understand. The "names" are largely irrelevant its how good your structures & development is ..

Yeah, imagine how much they would have won by if Bartel and Selwood had played good games.

Every time Geelong and Hawthorn used the centre corridor I cried.

Problem is you have to have the footskills to pull off the Geelong gameplan. The reason Neeld is forced to start with kick it long to a contest, force it out of bounds and hopefully win the next clearance gameplan is exactly that reason, we have poor skills. Every team would like to emulate Geelong or the Hawks, but few have the skills.

Are you sure about that? I don't think his footy philosophy is a centre-corridor attacking plan.

Caroline Wilson said this on Footy Classified on Monday when she was talking of Ablett having made a big mistake by going to Gold Coast .

Yes , she said , he can sit and count his money , but he now has regrets , particularly watching Geelong play without being there himself .

I love watching this team. Stevie J, Selwood, Menzel last year just amazing players.

I admire them more than anything. They gave us what we deserved last year.

If we can be half as good as them one day, we'll be ok.

Yip - I love watching Stevie J & Bartel - Selwood is a dead-set inspiration and I enjoy watching a few of the "lesser lights" Corey, Enright & Kelly.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
