Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Who would be a required player as of Round 2's performance ?

To think it was a flip of the coin between us getting Jimmy Bartell or Moloney.

Moloney shoulda kept his hand down....'sigh'

Better than your first few posts

Do you barrack for Melbourne or are you deriving some cheap pleasure from calling us weak pricks and wooden spooners?

I encourage you to be constructive if you are really a Demon .

Biffen you seem like a behind the screen bully everyone has a right to question the club with what we have seen the first 2 rounds. I love my dees and always back them but i like many others are very worried we have made no ground since 2008 on the ground and maybe gone backwards. So maybe let everyone have a say and stop being smug.

until they realise that their own destiny is in their own hands, dont change anything. the only thing that needs to change is the players mentality - it is not the coaches fault, it is not the fans or clubs fault, it is the players who need to lift and improve......

Does anyone on this site have any idea what the traumas of the last few weeks must have done to the players confidence & ability to perform at their best.

A lot of you seem to think that the players are robots with no feelings.

Do you think that you could lose a mentor, have one of your best friends up on serious charges, have another of your friends accused of being a destabilising influence on your workplace & have the company you work for shown to have financial difficulties & still come out and perform your job to the best of your ability.

I know i couldn't & haven't in the past under stressful circumstances (and I'm sixty not a young kid)

Maybe you are all right & we are a c**p side & all the players are useless but I think we need to give them an opportunity to rebuild their confidence & mindset before we judge them too harshly.

If something like that happened to me, I'd come out breathing fire. Not everybody would, but you'd think that at least a few of our players would react this way. It doesn't seem that any of them have, which indicates that they are not greatly affected by recent events, at least from a performance perspective.

This is an interesting approach. I would never do it, but never changing your team would quickly become a very effective message. I'd love to know what exactly it would do, however, because it could backfire badly.

Bartram's selected on his effort. He was at one stage matched up against Dean Cox because he was the only one willing to do the work required to man up the forwards after yet another quick transition from the Eagles' defence. He'll continue to get games until people with better skills are prepared to do the work he does. Bail is similar, but he has more upside, more pace and slightly better skills than Barty.

Well said; agree on both counts. Both these players are hard, work hard and have a crack - ahead of quite a few others.

Rubbish. First I heard of Bartell's name being put forward. Bartell was a sub 10 draft pick; Moloney was picked in pre-season draft ie about 100 picks later.

OUT: Bartram, Green, Morton, Blease, Moloney, Davey, Bennell,

Job lot. Gone.,

Find me 20 players in the VFL that attack the footy like Magner and Jones.

Bartram does for a start. He works his arse off every week; pity more don't.

I noticed a time when Clint Bartram was the only one willing to run back when the Eagles got their umpteenth quick break and took the initiative to match up on DEAN COX of all people. Seriously, how does that even happen? Until more talented players are willing to do the work that Clint Bartram does, he will remain in the side.

Ed: at the moment, the work ethic of many players is pathetic. They just MUST work harder. Gut run for a start should be the "mantra".

Just because you hadn't heard it doesn't mean it's rubbish.

We swapped pick12 for Moloney to enable them to get Ottens who they wanted badly.

Geelong had a bunch of highly rated young midfielders Bartel being 1 , and it was only a matter of which 1 we'd get.

Moloney being a Demons supporter as a kid put his hand up to go and we accepted the deal.

The fact we allowed pick 12 to be swapped for a player that as you said went another 100 picks later is another reason to ... 'Sigh'

Ed: I know the machinations of the trade; we got pick the pick 12 for Scotty Thomson. <sigh>. Talk about losing twice.

yeah i think your right - Bartram is a trier and a half but there are moments where i literally cringe...

Agree - we are waiting for someone with his work ethic, plus skills - then he will move on.

Gut run -- what is that? Haven't seen it in many years of watching MFC.

Oh -- is that what we see when Hawks, Cats, Pies, Eagles, Carlscum etc players actually work really, really hard, even when they don't have the ball??

Could that maybe explain success vs failure? Novel thought that.

Let me ask you this, how would Geelong respond to that? We all know. They would fight and scrap and never give in and show that no matter what happens off the field, they will fly the flag on it. Melbourne simply couldn't be further from that.

If you think I live in a rosy world, it just shows how wrong you are & I am offended by your personal attack.

I know from personal experience how trauma can affect performance.

Maybe it is you who live in the rosy world if you can't understand.

How do you know how Geelong would cope with the situation.

Because you think you know doesn't make it a fact.

Eddie & Malthouse believe coaches leaving during finals time was enough to destabilise Collingwood.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
