AFL Employee leaked info about indigenous players

Featured Replies

Gerard Whately just mentioned that the senior player is Aaron Davey. I wonder if the events of this week will lead to Davey remaining in the team as a show of faith in our indigenous players.

I suppose to some extent, this could have had an affect on Davey's performance on Saturday evening if this was already coming to light at that time... if he was the alleged source, then I expect he would have known what was coming. You have to wonder how much pressure these guys can take when all they really want to do is play footy.

Maybe that's what the [censored] who spread the rumour wants you to believe, because he needs somebody to blame for this fabricated load of garbage.

Caroline Wilson says that Davey, the only senior indigenous player at Melbourne, personally flat out denied this crap. I will believe Caro everyday of the week and twice on Sunday before I listen to Robinson.

We might have a rubbish midfield, we might have a boring game plan, our coach might possibly be planning to murder our players, but we are not a racist club who treats their indigenous players with such disrespect. Move on.

Robbo was just restating what Caro had said obviously, so I'm not sure why you are having a go at him here. And I don't think we should move on in this case... justice should not just be seen to be done, it MUST be done... heads must roll... Misfud and Thomas must pay and our club must be completely exonerated of any involvement.

How can the AFL/Demetriou expect people to take them seriously if Mifsud remains as an AFL employee? Doesn't the AFL have an "integrity" office? Surely they should be investigating this. We should demand some explanations and Mifsud's head on a platter. I hate to always refer back to the other mob, but can you imagine the fallout if this was said/reported about Malthouse or Buckley at the Pies? Eddie would be on a crusade. Stand your ground Demons and let the AFL know we won't be the whipping boy anymore. If this means we are on the outer with the Fat Controller and his mob so be it. Our integrity is more important than the AFL's corruption.

This is a disgraceful situation

The problem I have is does this unamed

source really exist ?

Are we expected to take Misfud at face value ?

I smell a rat

Hardly the soul of virtue Swampfox

So we have AFL360 saying that it is a senior mfc indigenous player, Gerard Whately saying it is Davey, and 3AW saying it is a former MFC player.

Mifsud has brought the AFL into disrepute. On that basis alone, he should be fired. Not to mention the fact that he can no longer adequately perform his job, since the players don't trust him to keep his mouth shut anymore.

Edited by Chook

Just because Davey (allegedly) said it was not true to Caro does not mean he is the one Mifsud is referring to as the "source"

Davey could just be saying that the allegation of the mfc indigenous players not having individual briefings with Neald was untrue - thats all

No doubt more "facts" will come to light shortly

What a f.....g media mess after last years f......g media mess with gws

So we have AFL360 saying that it is a senior mfc indigenous player, Gerard Whately saying it is Davey, and 3AW saying it is a former MFC player.

And several other possibilities. But don't worry about that, let's just get out the pitchforks NOW.

No Jaded, this our Line in the sand, for our Demons are from within. We have to clear up this mess ourselves. Or we will never recover.

Man I love the South Park mob. Rabble Rabble Rabble.

Lol it really is just one thing after another now. This season has exhausted me, and it's only the beginnning of round 2!

We have this and a shellacking at Subi to deal with in the ensuing days.

I was a wise girl to hitch my wagon to this star lol

Davey deny on MFC website

They want this to go away don't they.

Well this is Our chance to Sort this cultural Baggage out Now.

Don't let it slip away, or it will rear up again down the track. Deal with it, here and Now!

Vlad's reading of the situation is very very poor.

Mifsud MUST go his situation in any role with the AFL is untenable.

Mifsud is in a position of authority and he has very poor judgement.

Mifsud can't expect the AFL to read the situation and accept his resignation.

Now we have this

Meesa thinks Aaron is about to get some more $ rolling in, courtesy of channel 10, Whately and all who claim him to be the shooter on the grassy knoll.

And why not, sue them all for every cent they have.

Time to stop being nice guys

"Neither Demetriou nor Mifsud would identify the person who provided the wrong information, although there is strong suspicion the person is either employed by, or has an association with Melbourne.

When it was suggested to Demetriou that Thomas and Mifsud's reputations had been sullied, but Mifsud's source had escaped without any sanction, the League boss said this might not yet prove to be the case.

He said this person had been presented with a series of facts that were then misconstrued and incorrectly relayed to Mifsud."

Can I ask in what whay shape or form does this imply a player within the club??....that last line shows that it was someone who was told something and then decided to add some condiments tot he story and told mifsud, who like an idiot just told Thomas.

If i was Neeld i would take demetriou's advice and sue Thomas and Mifsud and the AFL as his employer.

breaking news on AFL 360 stand by

its just Aarons new release

Does anybody have David Williamson's number? Surely there's room for The Club 2

When you buy a Dees membership you really do get the full package.

Neeld Should sue them all.

Loss of money is the only thing they understand.

Absolutely and donate the money to Reach

I love this... I love that Vlad and his cronnies are on their backfeet. I love that the AFL ought not have dissed us. I love that we arent taking sh!t. I love that this is news.

I love that this club has finally grown some

go DEES !!!

Aaron has been very quick to acknowledge Jasons apology despite Jason having not named names.

Everyone who gets off on making [censored] rumours will be absolutely storming to keyboards right now to start naming the supposed source.

You rang?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
