GAME DAY - Round 1

Featured Replies

Will feel worse than 186 if we lose today because we had a reason to win.

What sort of weak club can't even get up on a day like today.

I'm ashamed more than ever to be a Melbourne supporter.

I GOT MY MEMBERSHIP THIS WEEK. I AM GOING TO DEMAND MY MONEY BACK, CHRIST ALL MIGHTY.

Two teams here, ones playing footy the others just playing around !!

They'll Neeld to get a lot better than this and Neeld has a lot of work ahead . Wonder what he'll do for next week .

There's a bot of otdonary mixed with laighable umpiring but that's no excuse .

Oh dear !!!

abc commentary team laying into our senior "non-leaders" what a joke of a list we have

I feel sick. This is awful... Just awful. I want to go home and lock myself in my room for days..

Different coach. Same result.

Some of them are a disgrace.

This is worse than 186. Showing absolutely no respect to the Stynes family.

this is not the players, this is neeld. the repeated long bombing is awful.

can't wait to see what happens next week, we'll give 186 a run i reckon

You know something, it really feels like it right now.

The brains trust, Brad Green and Aaron Davey kick a "genius" goal to give me more hope than I should have.

Gameplan is flawed. Will get beaten by every side using it. Almost negligent to instruct this or allow it to happen

Time for the coach to unleash some of those good ideas he's been speaking about.

Maybe man on man will be a good option to stem the bleeding in the last quarter.

Howe does more damage than good with his flying for a mark. Serious needs to pee off and let Clark try and mark it!

Neeld needs to stop making excuses about not using emotion etc at 3/4 time and give them an old fashioned rev up.

No point changing the gameplan now, force them to be accountable and show some desperation for they are embarrassing the club and Jimmy so far today.

The good news is that we're looking at some tasty top 5 draft picks in nov.

The bad news - we'll probably waste them like usual.

Sick in the guts, just sad.

Has there ever been a more predictable game plan than ours? Not even 1 game into the season and we do the same thing over and over. Brisbane handball out the back of the pack everytime and have numbers running, they are playing high position footy. Play man on man footy and we might slow that down at least. Take the game on, try something different demons. Footys a simple game so they say. Please stop this humiliation MFC and Mr Neeld. Don't let the fighting spirit die as well

At the game - honestly, its our forwards that are killing us.

How can you tell? We have 13 players in the forward 50.

This ought to be the last game Aaron Davey ever plays.

I reckon Brisbane could go home now and we'd STILL lose !!!!!!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
