Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is the reason why the MFC cannot afford any more "bad" years...When top sides can lose up to 6-7 players..(not that they probably will) but the possibility is there.

Those same clubs will then turn around and fill up their lists with the cream of the Bottom clubs....

The MFC must strive to be one of those Top Clubs, otherwise all the good work done since 2008 will be lost.

That list has 5 clubs with 6-7 potentials....around 30 players could move...that is a lot of space on lists & salary caps.

The Bottom Clubs will lose....

I would like Tuck from Richmond. A weird one maybe to some but I love watching him play. He's a hard see ball get ball player that pumps the ball both out of the D50 and into the F50. Hard bodied midfielder and after all the players we've given the tigers time to get one back!

Of those I would realistically take Cassisi, Johnson and possibly Josh Hunt.

The reality is unless it's a GWS megabucks bid most of those players at clubs with a lot of players will stay put or are already in line for being delisted.

Luke Hodge.

Fat chance but, oohhh...

What a joke...1 out of 6 players listed as 'Free agents' is in our leadership group.

I blame dean bailey for this.

Jamar has already announced that he want's to re-sign. I don't think it's all that bad, it's just players broadening their horizons rather than claiming they want to leave their clubs.

Wrong. Bottom clubs will be able to let their underperforming, highly paid players go, thereby freeing up immense space in their salary caps and poach players from other clubs for more money than they would otherwise be making. Lower Clubs usually have more salary cap space than higher clubs, and this new rule will benefit them. We've seen from Tom Scully, Gary Ablett and even Mitch Clark that money talks louder than the promise of success, and wooden spooners tend to have much more to spend than Premiership contenders.

I think the clubs that will really suffer are the middle clubs.

Top Clubs always get what they want....players from the Bottom Clubs after 8-10 years will jump at the chance of a late flag...That has happened for years.

Now it is easier.

I do not think it is a BAD thing at all...But if the MFC is sitting near the TOP of the ladder...Players will be wanting to come...if we are down near the bottom for any length of time....It will be an open door

How many players from TOP sides went to GW$ or GC $un$...Gary Ablett.....The rest from bottom feeder clubs....

It will be no fun finishing last anymore...Maybe it will be the wake up call our club needs....

How many players from bottom clubs went to top clubs? Not many that I can think of. David Hale, maybe, and that's about it. Footy's becoming more and more professional (in the truest sense of the word) and consequently, money is soon going to be the major factor in determining where a player ends up. Bottom clubs can pay more than top clubs, and unless a premiership contender has been able to manage its salary cap extraordinarily well, they simply won't be able to match the offers of lower placed clubs.

The big thing I like to see is - a ladder regarding who has the most salary cap space to actually get these players.

Its fine for a player to be available but if you have no cap space its useless.

ok I have to disagree...Let's see how this pans out.

Will players leave Carlton to go to Footscray....by choice?

What?? When has Footscray had $6 Mill..

GW$ and the GC $un$ are the richest clubs in the league right now...AFL Bank rolled.

point was - everyone has a price.......it doesn't have to be $6M and it also depends on what they currently get

T$ went to the biggest shytehole in the country purely for the money.

Likewise others who opt for the money (super) won't care what club it is

Let's see how it pans out....I don't think Players who are on good coin will go to a bottom team.

In 5 years we should get enough of a trend.

If you were drafted to a club as a top pick and they were near the bottom after 8 years service they showed no improvement and weren't in finals contention then you would be forgiven for leaving. If I were a player who played 8 seasons and progressed through with a number of young players/mates in that time and saw us come from being a bottom eight side to a regular finals contender with Top 4 potential, i'd want to stay to see through what we had started.

So IMO it's up to the clubs to hold players, I don't see the big deals Ablett and Our Former #1 pick were offered being a regular occurence.

I think a lot will depend on whether a club is on the way down or up. From my POV it may suit us as there is quite a few FA's we could afford to lose and some potential gains out there. Players with strong leadership skills would be handy. The AFL should make sure the under the table jiggery pokey is fully tightened up or the system may become a mockery.

Absolutely....i am always referring to perennial losers when i mean an open door...(us at the mo)

A team like the Tiogs would stick together...But Free Agency will force teams to be better. That is a good thing.

Yes...to hold players we must become a good tough club...not a bad thing i reckon.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
