I am happy to have Danger Mouse as an older keeper.

1991 is fine.

Let's move on.

This is just a sideshow guys. Anyone who thinks next season will be determined by keepers are kidding themselves. People want to keep players they like (Danger Mouse) and that is the extent of it.

Majority? lol I love the way agendas are pushed about with generalized comments like this!

What are you talking about RR? JA yesterday asked our thoughts on the age criteria. Have a look on the thread on UF.

Ahhh whatever ... 1990/91 ... doesn't really matter. It's just impossible to keep everyone happy either way so let's go with JA's exec decision.

I think the compromise concept ... two oldies, two rooks is a very good one and adds to strategising and trading complexity. It's also fairer.

1990 is ridiculous, someone who has been in the system 4 years as a young keeper is a joke and really players like cotchin etc shouldnt be allowed as a young keeper, if we make it 1990, it should be players lower than 150 or even 200, because how does that make it a fair competition! If it is 1990 I think it should just stick with the 4 keeper rule because that's how it would work anyway!

When you look through the list, there's plenty of 19 - 21yo's to go around. I'm sure there'll be a bit of horse trading for them towards the end of the season.

Yeh, I think there should be an end of season trade week alla afl

Well, hypothetically Bartel might be offered for an upgrade on an u/21...

(whispering this) the poll is 6 for this and 4 for the 'greater than 100 ranking' option...

Just saying. Democracy rules not plutocracy yes?

Message loud and clear JA. It's a privilege to be a part of the NSUFL. H_T Hurricanes will be managing its list in the full accordance of stipulated rules as decided by League members during the midseason AGM.

But just one query, 14/18 members have voted. At a guess, Eth, JLH, Watts Cook n, haven't voted. Do we wait ? Also, I thought it was mentioned that whatever were the two most popular voted there would be a ..... Or have I missed a post or two ?

Autocracy at the least, but I'm aiming for banana republic.

As for the vote we can't wait for everyone and there was a vote or two that have been changed to the rookie choice since the initial poll.

Moreover, the more I thought about the 2 + 2 >100, the more I realised that it would be a little bit of a pain given that the rankings are moving targets and therefor trading for those 2 keepers during this year would be a bit like trying to guess which players would have the closest rank to 100 without going under.

I quite like the rookie keeper idea, surely being all melbourne supporters we can appreciate the obsession we all have with first and second year players.

In regards to a question brought up earlier about what happens after next year. My thoughts are that the rookie keeper cutoff just goes up a year each new year, 1991 for this year, 1992 the following.

That said, tweaks are always possible but I am loath to change rules mid season again so any changes would be made pre-draft.

Thank God that you have expressed the above, that is, your desire of NO MORE MID DECISIONS/CHANGES,

now all of this looks to be over and done with i'd like to say well handled, it did get a bit heated the with rr going to leave but too his credit calmed down and we all came up with a fair compromise that has been voted on, so there cant be any misunderstandings and calls for JA's head.

JA i read your thoughts on the under 21's saying you thought that we'd just raise the age each year, just an idea , each year add one more keeper say an under 20 or so, that way we really do end up building a list and you can back some new draftees in.

Wreckers (45) goes bang at the trade table in a huge day of surprises.

He brings in ...

Schulz for Gaff (Range Rover)

Wells for Watts (DL7)

Brodie Smith for Sam Blease (HT)

Shuey for Sidebottom (HT)

Obviously looking to strengthen his list for a premiership tilt while others try to shore up their young stars for season 2013.

Very bold & aggressive trading by The Wrecker - Should definately be there at the business end in 2012.

RR & DL7 good work on your Rookie Pick Ups

HT - Exceptional work from you, risky but high long term reward.

Geez I hate these BYES

I'm 98% sure I'll live to rue these trades, and really should've checked players birthdays etc but oh well - I figured for the good of the game I'd get some players moving.

I'd essentially drafted originally with keepers in mind - probably shot myself on the footy now but oh well.

45 I think you've done well. Let's remember the main aim is to become premier and you've now given yourself the very best chance to do that. Yes you've let go a few top line youngsters but you've still retained the likes of Prestia and Trengove as rookies for next season.

If you win the flag you'll look back and say this week's bold trading got you the choccies.

I agree and that same aim is what I have in mind for this year too.

The Sidebottom-Shuey trade did raise my eyebrows though I must say.

Can't say I'd have agreed to that myself. You got lucky there HT.

Truth be known, I've been pestering 45 for Sidebottom

all year. I'd also been on him for Watts, lucked out there....

TBH I just did it to keep the game rolling and others happy.

I don't really like trading, I like holding onto my players - but I figured that you guys put a lot of effort into offering trades, I may as well let a few roll out. Probably had more to do with my mood than anything - but it's done now.

I tip my hat to you 45, just let me know in advance when you're in the same mood...

You certainly know your players and without wanting to blow too much sunlight up your clacker, you've picked a strong list.

Shuey is IMO a good trade for Sidebottom

And will provide a great deal for your team. As much as it hurts letting him go, it took my best to get SS. That's how highly I rate both.

I see JB has posted his thoughts on it in UF site. How you can say Wreckers has blown it JCB, is quite bewildering. Shuey is ranked no.3. He had a hiccup with his shoulder several weeks back, but is back to his best and only missed a week from memory.

Robbo24's comment is right on too.

IMO it could be easily seen as shuffling the deck chairs.

Shuey has had a great year to date and would be in AA contention. To say he hasn't had a great year - couldn't be further from the truth, JCB.

A key difference of course is that Sidey, unlike Shuey, qualifies as a rookie pick for next year. Probably the 'number 1 pick' of all those rookies if truth be told.

I expect there'll be a few more of these types of trades as the season reaches the business end.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
