Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd be more depressed if we lost a Hurley type, than that little Sea Monkey.

I think we've done well & will be better off with the 2 Picks.

Pressed on whether he was confident Hurley would stay at the club, Hamilton said: "Yeah, I'm sure he would like to stay."

Bwahahaha!

I noticed that too. It's great isn't it. No doubt there'll be a few articles on the Pies and a few others.

Aahh yes, AFL as it should be, a spectator sport!

2 picks that are nowhere near number one. We chose badly.

Well we could have taken Martin.

But the 2 choices in the Top 15, in a strong draft, will give a very good chance of unearthing a topline star.

We could have gone with Trenners 1st plus Gary Rohan or Martin.

No, not really, I was impressed with Trenners after watching many TAC Cup games thru 2008/09. Martin & Cunnington were also interesting as was Rohan & Butcher, but his kicking was seen as an Issue.

Honestly, I was always Uneasy about skully's demeanor.

And especially after that first photo of him & Trenners with the Jumper on. He wore a frown louder than the red & blue

Is that the best you've got.

My disquiet about scully was from over 2 TAC Cup seasons. Not a photo.

I'd say in his case a very self centred attitude steers his ways, inherited from the female side, IMO.

This argument keeps raising it head- "we should known". Every single expert had Scully going number one twelve months prior to the draft and nothing changed. I dont believe any club would have passed up Scully at number one. To level the accusation that the MFC got it wrong is putting on the retrospective glasses to the extreme. Happy to hear anyone say "in hindsight we got it wrong" but to say we didnt do our homework is plain wrong.

Maybe if we do want to learn something from all club previous drafting then we should steer away from any interstate draftees because of the go home factor (sorry JT). Makes it difficult for GWS and GC to draft anyone. Stick to local boys who barracked for MFC growing up. Wait Juddy was coming home and barracked for the Dees growing and didnt come back to us. Maybe we should just pass on draft picks - too risky that they may want to leave.

Ha! It's a bit late Billy if your worried it may be like the Skunk in May.

Maybe you should have tied her legs together earlier? Don't you know you shouldn't plan things for the footy season, LoL?

Gee, I thought I did alright! It's not September so I get to see finals, it's not October or November so I don't miss the Spring Racing Carnival, it's not Christmas or New Years, or Easter for that matter, I just didn't take this pr!cks birthday in to consideration.

Maybe I should change my name to Philly2803??

I would imagine if that was done in an AFL match he would have got a year. It was a shocking look. A bloke kicked from behind while flat out after being hit in the head. Two team mates as well.

PS. If you look where the boot landed, it could have been quite serious.

And not only was Judd at the Eagles long enough for them to get a reasonable return from him, they also got equitable recompense for him in a trade.

(I'm not bitter!)

They didn't at all. The Eagles lost a one in a generation ( no mark that two) match winning midfielder and premiership captain. He will go on to finish his career as one of the all time greats. The Eagles will never cover losing Judd with what they received.

Yes I guess to a certain extent you're never going to get true value in trade for a superstar like Judd. But they did do fairly well out of it. Picked at #3 played just about every game for 6 years (130 odd games) is a good start. And getting pick #3, #20 and Josh Kennedy (Pick #4) was a fairly reasonable return.

The reason we keep harping on about scully is we know how good he is going to be and what he would have meant to this club. We are not going to pick up another one with 2 compo picks. We lost. He lost. Footy lost. It was a lose lose lose.

I don't think that's the point old55. Deeluded was just saying there was just something about T$'s demeanor he noticed before drafting that he thought a bit odd

To be honest so did I but just before drafting and then after. I just thought him a bit unsocial, ungracious, self obsessed and a loner but nothing strong enough to not draft him.

His clean record, TAC form and his dedication to training were enough for most of us. We might have some hindsight now but at that time we certainly didn't have the foresight to see how it would unfold and what a rat he would be. Given the same circumstances repeating in the future we (and most clubs) would probably make the same 'mistake' again.....c'est la football

The jury is still out on how much they lost.

With pick 3, they took Chris Masten who has played only 54 games in four seasons and has off field issues. He may well mature now and play decent football fro the rest of his career. But he has hardly been a gem to date remembering both Rioli and Dangerfield were in that draft.

They got Josh Kennedy who has settled down to be a capable 50 70 goal forward. He will be be good for WCE.

For pick 20 they took Tony Notte who has done zilch and i think is gone now.

For mine WCE did not get anywhere near equal compensation and the risks of the compensation they did get is making sure you pick we.. And given Kennedy is good they needed to uncover two gems with picks 3 and 20. This was always an uphill battel and IMO they have blown the picks.

Exactly DC. Claims on here that people had concerns with Scully back then and that it was obvious (only in hindsight) they we should not have picked him at #1 are ridiculous.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
