Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Oh you mean On-field, do you mean Seller, is He our 'Leroy Brown'... Is that why we went for him, big, strong, aggressive???

who knows? Hopefully Neil Craig had some good info...but we certainly do need the enforcer type at the club.

He did not show a lot at the Crows, i think he was delisted?

Why do we think he is going to be a world beater at the dees?

I do not expect much beyond a bit player role.

Interesting view on the importance of captaincy from Glenn Archer from a Herald Sun article.

Archer said: "I don't really care who is captain. At the end of the day, it's more the leadership group than the captain. If Boomer was to stay on for another year, I don't think it's going to hurt anyone.

"But if he was to hand it over to a young guy like Jack Ziebell, that would have positives, as well."

Asked if Ziebell, 21 next month, was ready for the captaincy, Archer said: "He has got to toss the coin and give a bit of a pre-match speech. I don't think that would be too hard for Jack."

He makes some interesting points doesn't he. The leadership group is more important to Arch, and he would know. He always played flat out.

I checked H_T he was delisted, have no idea if Craig had any involvement

Craig resigned/sacked/boned on 25 July 2011. Sellars was delisted at the end of that season.

From Sellars record at Adeliade, Craig was not picking him much. it would have been doubtful that both could have been at the Crows in 2012.

My point was though, did Craig have any involvement in the decision to delist him at Adelaide ? Given Craig was boned/sacked/resigned graciously before the season's conclusion, I doubt Craig had the final say at Adelaide on Sellars (ie not under Craig's watch), and given he and Viney may have put forward Sellars name in a positive light as an option for late in the draft for Melbourne's recruiting (and a second chance) of a tall KPP - I believe Craig may have been a tad surprised at the Crows decision.

I hadn't factored that in, but both Craig & Viney would have coached Sellars whilst at the Crows...Let's all hope they both knew something that the crows don't, going forward.

Read post 290 on this very thread:

"I was listening to Neil Balme on the radio the other day and he stated that the leadership group is considerably more important than the individual that's made captain."

My pray list is getting a little long wyl!

not sure I have time for one after

- Davey returning to form

- Green back to 2010 form

- Grimes and Tappscot staying healthy

- Fitzpatrick firing up

- Clarke being worth the dough we are paying

- you know who getting more than 4 touches a game

- Cook getting a game in the Casey seniors

- losing by less than 10 goals at Geelong

and the dees having a game plan that they can implement.

Not sure my knees are up to too much more time beside the bed.

I will bring some sedatives to the AGM O.D. You are definately in need after years of heartbreak.

I genuinely believe that we have a great coach beginning his reign...

Only results will tell i know...

Apparently they played him as a forward. And must have judged him thus.

It seems we are looking at him for defence? or as our LeRoy Brown?

Had a knee Op just before Christmas and back on the bike last week wyl.

Slowly coming good.

My wife tells me to fire up a dees player would have been back in full training 2 weeks ago.

Only difference is about 45 years!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
