No one can understand exactly what Aussie is going through, and I understand that he may not want to come back to the club. But a simple phone call should be made, and it is extremly poor form by him not to contact the club.

He doesn't want to ring the club. It brings all the memories back. He just wants to be left alone.

The whole Austin Wonaeamirri-turtle association reminds me of the Mony Python sketch about Two Sheds Jackson. A man briefly mentions that he might possibly one day get a second shed maybe and the rest of the world gets stuck on that miniscule aspect of his life.

Wona once mentioned that he liked eating turtle, so naturally he will never be known for anything else. I'll be sad to see him go. I always thought he was just too short to make it, but I s'pose that doesn't matter now, does it?

"can i call you Eddie Baby" "get your own chat show Jackson"...Gold!

It's a real shame, but the club has done everything it possibly can do for this kid at this stage. 4 years later he's obviously still not sure whether or not he wants to be an AFL footballer. Life doesn't wait around for you. I'm sure the club will continue to support him. Good luck Aussie!

pls explain why MOD contact me?????

IIRC your last post was lacking some tact and was deleted.

I always say to myself - if I was running this site and responsible for what is on it - would I still write what I am about to write?

And you can just reply to the personal message and ask.

Melbourne website records the following:

Summary of Melbourne List Changes

Primary List Additions

- Mitch Clark (Exchanged with Brisbane Lions for pick No.12)

Primary List Changes

- Addam Maric (delisted)

- Austin Wonaeamirri (delisted)

- Matthew Warnock (traded to GC Suns)

- Tom Scully (GWS)

Rookie List Changes

- Cameron Johnston (delisted)

- Tom McNamara (delisted)

- Michael Newton (delisted)

- Robbie Campbell (retired)

I am really sad to see Wonna go. A genuine small forward with great skills and could really tackle.

McNamara was kept on last year but looks lost at AFL level.

And I never again have to type the words into a Demonland post "Pllleeeaasssseee no more Newton". Yes, my friends, he is gone. It really was a waste of a lot of skill. His kicking and marking are of a high quality but his desire to get the ball and get into the play was weak and timid.

PSD draft etc... is now very interesting.

.

Newton's kicking was atrocious. The number of 'sitters' he missed in his 30-odd games (over 7 years) was diabolical. If he could kick he could have cemented his place.

Newton has been a massive disappointment, looked a likely type early on but never went on with it despite A LOT of chances from the club.

I'm very happy with all our list changes, Neeled has made his mark and it'll be interesting to watch how our pre-season goes.

I must have been looking at a different player.

Over his career he kicked 35.31. i dont believe his kicking was atrocious. Its was inconsistent. I saw him play at Sandy and Casey where in swirling conditions was kicking goals on the angle from the 50 metre arc.

And had he addressed the issue you pointed out, it still would not have saved his career.

He was pick 46 in 2004 and recruited as an underage punt. You must be massively disappointed with so many MFC footballers that dont go on with it. There is nothing unusual about Newton's career.

Anyway this is Wonna's thread. Good luck Aussie.

I can understand that we should be hopeful with a new coach coming in and all the changes that have been made to the FD. But the amount of Bromance for Neeld is quite disturbing!

Seriously, at the start of the year, I'm quite sure most of us would've had Maric and Warnock in our sights, with the departure of Scully and the recruiting of Clark, it meant we still needed to delist one other player. And with Aussie not having a great last couple of years for various reasons, and knowing that he hasn't been in contact with the Club, missed appointments, and the fact the Club haven't been able to contact him, I'm sure it was a very logical decision. And further to Clark's arrival - most supporters beliveed we needed a big bodied forward, and Clark was basically the best one on the trade table (although most beleived he would head to Freo).

Might sound like I'm being a bit negative toward Neeld, I don't think I am, it's just my positive meter for Neeld isn't as high as a lot on here! Sure, he has been involved in a lot of changes off-field, but I want onfield results. I hope I'm writing at the end of next season about the Neeld factor!

Really hope we haven't seen the end of Wonna - he's still only 23 ( just turned )

Perhaps in a year or 2 he'll have another crack at it - and get himself picked up ( at least as a rookie ) .

Reckon Clubs will have to look at more mature age players in the future . Especially with the talent pool spread over 18 teams .

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
