Would have to agree; always thought he would have a positive impact, despite him not wanting to take on a long term role with the club.

Totally agree, he was accused of being part of the Old Boys club but results prove otherwise. He has moved Connolly sideways, denied Todd the senior coaching position secured Neeld and Craig despite fierce competition and best of all has shut Caroline Wilson up.

He also put his neck on the line by overlooking Eade and some of the other safe easy choices; well done.

Without seeing the report we will never know.

I reckon one of the first things Garry would've wanted to see when first coming into his role was the Andrew's report. Obviously without me knowing one iota of what Garry has actually done at the club or what that report had revealed, it just can't be coincidence that all of this off-field action has taken place in sync with Garry's short-term role with the club. It wreaks of the Lone Wolf - "What's wrong? How do we best go about fixing it? OK, then let's fix it!"

Garry's role cannot be underestimated in what has transpired over the past month. Neeld's role too, as he seems very much a type of person who will not tolerate laziness, procrastination, or anything else that would appear to hold us back.

I eagerly await trade week, now that we seem to have people in power who aren't afraid to act.

100% agree, we seem to be "getting our man" a fair bit lately & I think there is no coincidence that the great man is on board, I would love the club to convince him to stick around !!!

Spot on. The main consensus seemed to be "Get in or Get out" towards Garry. But having Garry for a few months is so much better than not having him at all. Is busting his gut to stabilise this ailing club, and solely based on coaching appointments and removals I am excited for round 1 2012.

Presidents aren't paid positions. Besides, it doesn't stop other club Presidents having heavy media and commercial interests.

But I'm fairly sure Garry has said he is not at all interested in the politics of football - so a board position seems out of the question.

We are building a very, very good collection of coaches. And the better quality you have, the better quality you can attract.

I think Lyon's role as a networker and connections man, and a persuasive presence, has been a tremendous boost to this process. I also think the 'tough calls' element of all this has been helped greatly by the fact that he is there to 'do a job, then go', and that he has in effect got a time limit on his formal role.

One of the contrasts is that six weeks ago Viney was the only person seriously considered for the caretaker role. Now we have added Rawlings (caretaker for half a season at Richmond) and Craig (a decade as one of the upper-half of coaches), and we've recruited an absolute top-flight performance manager in Misson.

Now, a forward line coach... who can offer a list of the 'top 3 prospects' that we should look at? And does that list include Gary Lyon?

Couldn't agree more Redleg. From the outside looking in, Garry is doing a brilliant job. No matter who or what the other influences might be, Garry is making it happen. Just like the 'lead from the front' attitude he showed so often in his playing days.

Neeld I believe has made some impact in netting Misson, Rawlings, Greaves & Slattery. Doing things his way. With the Committee appointing Neeld.

Craig most likely would have been a joint effort initiative and targeted early on, even prior to Neeld's appointment.

It seems Craig likes Neeld's vision and had an influence on him choosing us. Things are aligning nicely.

I think we also should not minimize the influence of Cameron Schwab, who has had the experience selecting coaches, and the Business training to put together a coaching team.
