Delistings

Noticed Melbourne is one of the only clubs not to have made their delistings yet. Apart from those in finals, and yes i realise we've had a coach for just over a week.

Surely they will be made known over the next few days?

Was wondering the same thing. If Juice gets another crack on the rookie list I want a royal commission enquiry.

Hell yeah - he's costing us pick 100 in the Rookie draft!

It will be very interesting who goes and who stays. And I think we will not announce it until at least after trade week or indeed near or after 31st October when all players are due back for a HUGE pre season.

May not need to make any delistings if trade week goes well.

Definite possibility. I can see all of Bate, Warnock and Dunn being given second chances at other clubs.

Agree if we are lucky.

Thing is, Newton has cost us pick X in the rookie draft for so many years it could have been two or three different 'attempts' at finding a player.

Anyway, his time is done so never mind.

Not looking like a good off-season for the Bate/Dunn/Newton trio of talls taken in the same draft.

I think every club has to de-list at least three players; although I am not sure about the Suns and Giants.

He won't, as Martin has emerged and is maturing.

Gawn has come on ahead of schedule, so Juice has served his duty.

Ah, 'Belze', your too quick for me. I was trying to tidy up my post.

JAMAR, I think you'd realise that I'm his virtual No1 fan....

BUT: IF It were for say, O'Meara or other young Gun,,, or part of a Gaff deal,,, or part of a Boak deal,,, then I'd would consider The Options,,,IF The Russian was Interested in His Options! I would NOT move him on though.

Funny ...not many acuse me of being "quick"

I fully understand the notion of one has to give in order to get, but, Rucks, decent ones are like gold and we have a platinum one. If i had to raid the lolly tin for a trade id look elsewhere. Thats me. Jamar will still be going great guns for the very years we might have a shot.

Agree BB.

The list of players I would take for Jamar is very very small.

IMO he is going nowhere in 2012.

How can one be 'virtual number one fan' of a player but want to trade said player?

I don't want to trade him. But If he was Interested in bigger money or was Open to something else, we don't have Many solid gold chips we can trade with that won't damage our rebuild beyond 2014.

We can't afford to give any of our young quality Yet.

As far as No1 ticketholder, I was It when the Russian didn't have a friend even amongst the players. So, you'll just have to do your homework young fella.

The players didn't like him?

Where they scared of him?

Did he smell?

Was he sympathetic to the wrong culture?

Did he get nose bleeds?

I believe it's only 3 list changes, not 3 delistings. So three players have to be removed in any form.

Obviously we're already one down with...him...and assume Warnock leaving through trade makes it two down.

So we really only need to trade/delist one player.

Unless we trade in players.
Yes - it has to be a net change of -3.

Even without trying to rehome Dunn and Bate, coming up with three outs should be a piece of piss. Maric and Wonaeamirri would be delisted with the promise to rookie list the latter. Warnock on to the trade table then delisted if no takers.

You're right though - it's the possibility of trading in players that makes it interesting. It then becomes even more critical that we try and find a home for those other two, and I'd accept pretty much anything in return, including a downgrade of third round picks (Jade Rawlings deal) if we were absolutely desparate. The other option is to delist while in contract, but that one always makes me nervous.

If we have to we can always move an in contact player to the rookie list, like we did with juice and meese 2 years ago.

No, we didn't. Technically, we have to delist them, then re-pick them in the rookie draft. Most importantly, the players must agree to this.

No. They didn't think much of him. Imo they didn't think he had It.

I could see he could. But needed some, encouragement, prompting, and maturity.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
