Sportsbet.com.au have suspended/closed the betting market (for now anyway) for the next melbourne coach....Adelaide and Western Bulldogs betting still available. Anything to it?

Posted

Probably is something to it.

I'm useless at finding the exotics on Betfair and TAB Sportsbet though

They are very seldom wrong!

They say "money speaks".

If they have closed the book then something is happening!

Or they are over-sensitive to rumours...

That also happens when money is involved...

Who could it be at this stage of the finals?

Eade? Viney? Williams? Laidley?

This morning, which was the last time i checked- Eade had floated from 2.50 to 2.75, Malthouse at 5, Ross Lyon 6, Then Viney dropped from 14 to 10, Neeld, Burns, Laidley all 10 as well

This market has been opened and closed a few times in the last month or so but yeah, the closer we get to pre-season the more we'll read into it I guess.

Max bet is $300 due to government exotics market rules

Herald sun reporting Lyon backed in from $9 to $2 over the past 24hrs. Thats a lot of $300 dollar bets

Yeah the thing is, if the saints players are reported correctly telling everyone Ross came out and said he isn't going to go to Melbourne....

this is fishy.

its only been suspended when the bulldogs and adelaide markets have been too (generally on sunday night after all matches have been played)

Not from my observation.

My initial thought is it is a response to Melbourne's intense secrecy regarding the position.

Melbourne have made a very clear decision to make the appointment of this coach as in house as humanly possible.

Maybe making calls on the Melbourne Coach is too risky for them...

What has a betting market got to do with who coaches us? Someone care to explain the link?

They take bets on who will coach us next season. There has been a drastic run of bets on Ross Lyon, shortening him from 9-1 down to 2-1 for the job in under a day. As such they have decided that there may be something fishy going on (such as news leaking early) and have stopped taking bets until they have looked into it.

Funny thing, they close the book when they think they stand to loose a lot of money because everyone is backing the same person. They never close the book when they think they're going to make a lot of money though. That hardly seems fair.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
